  1. There's two things we can guarantee will happen tonight... 1. Us conceding (at least) a goal 2. Jack Woodward apologising for 90mins as AVTV fails to stream the game
  2. Ps, didn't help being at the game sat in the home end with a Luton fan, West Ham fan and Spurs fan - the latter of which won £300 on a couple of bets that we'd lose
  3. Was at the game. I'm well aware that results in pre season do not necessarily reflect how the season will play out - but today there were two things that stood out like a sore thumb to me even over the two XI's, namely our inability to defend (Clark and Vlaar were very bad and Herd was poor or at half too in my opinion) but also the inability to create clear chances...against a conference side. With our injuries to our strikers and Benteke not being match fit along with the frailties I've mentioned above I'm genuinely worried about what the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City will do to us in our opening few games. We just cannot keep a clean sheet. Out defence was all over the place tonight, run ragged at times by Luton Town.
  4. Ill be there but going with a Luton fan so I'm being taken in a tour of the local pre-match boozers and sitting in the home end. Looking forward to hearing the away end rocking. Oh and a win and, dare I say it, a clean sheet would be most welcome
  5. Anyone think he will play? ...you know who.
  6. He definitely has the best goal celebration in our team
  7. I'm flying into Dusseldorf from London Standstead (I live in London) - Dusseldorf is half an hour away on the train to Bochum - so we figured we'd base oursleves in Dusseldorf and have Saturday and Sunday night out there (the game is Sunday). Train to Bochum is circa $20euros return
  8. Fully expect this to fall on deaf ears as its only a pre season friendly - but just wondered if anyone else is planning on hitting Dusseldorf for the Villa pre season game against VfL Bochum? Ive just booked to go with a mate for £35 return (Ryannair) and will be hitting the local bars, pubs etc - so was just seeing if any other Villa fans are heading out? Ps, flights were £35 return Ticket - $9euros Bargain. (no doubt i'll get raped on the price of the beer but at least it'll taste nice)
  9. What are their fans saying about all this debacle? They can't be happy surely?
  10. You see that's where we differ from most clubs - our attention to detail, ensuring our players sign deals on specific paper from their own country.
  11. Definitely wore the green kit at qpr and man city. Correct. We did
  12. 8 hours later... ...and im starting to like the away top
  13. Like Bakes a lot - love his commitment with his tackles. There's nothing quite like seeing him clean out a player with a challenge and cleanly taking the ball. Also love the fact he's a local lad. He's our Worcester Warrior. He's still raw and we definitely need a new CB in my opinion - but can utilise him throughout the season.
  14. Agree. Also the collar on the home looks to me like a throw back to GT MkII era in 2002-2003 when we had Rover as sponsor.
  15. Unless Tonev had a Poznan shirt on with his name on the back and walked through arrivals holding hands with Petrov, then I highly doubt anyone at BHX would know who he is
  16. Imagine the black kit with claret shorts and black socks!! Would love that.
  17. 9/10 Im "the best thing since sliced bread sliced into little pieces" apparently
  18. Not going to get carried away with the possibility of signing Tonev but what we missed dearly last season was a midfielder chipping in the with goals and being a potent attacking threat. He looks (and sounds like) that sort of a player and would perhaps relieve the pressure on our strikers a bit. Much like the way Lampard does at Chesea. But I'll wait until I see him holding up the Villa shirt before I get excited. It's is, however, nice to be chasing these sorts of players as opposed to SPL and over priced PL players
  19. It also heavily assumes Simon Jones knows his arse from his elbow when it comes to the internal workings of Villa this close-season.For the first time in a long time I'm okay with the sell to buy phraseology. Sell the likes of Ireland, Bent, Given et al and bring in more Lowton, Benteke and Westwood types. This. We need to get rid of the dead wood and bring in players who are hungry and want to, in Lambert's words "play for the shirt".
  20. 'Honey I shrunk the kids' at Redditch cinema.
