  1. We just need Rooney and Hernandez to catch the Norovirus and we may get a 0-0. Haha
  2. The perfect game to bring Man Utd out of their slump...with the team we put out today it could easily be 0-4. We need to improve and not roll over
  3. As bad a display as i've seen this year. We offered nothing and couldnt' match Fulham's desire and will to win the ball, and the game. We can bemoan the penalty decision all we like but it more than likely wouldnt've altered the outcome - and only papers over the huge cracks today. Way too much hoof ball (often to the opposition) and Benteke was getting easily handled by Hughes and Senderos. Witha fully fit starting XI we can compete against teams, especially away and pick up points - but as soon as we get one or two injuries we become as bad as anyone in the league. I have no idea where our ball retention has gone from the end of last year. I want Bacuna removed from the team and have said so for weeks - Lowton must be brought back in. Everyone was poor today and it wasn't good enough.
  4. People on here prioritise the latter when it comes to a full-back. He's not a RB and it shows - he's much more valuable to us when he's further up the pitch - Lowton was excellent last season - and his eagerness to get forward along with his delivery is great. Lowton makes things tick when he bursts forward - but Bacuna becomes static. Sunderland were dominating down our right yesterday.
  5. Am hoping Lowton returns to RB soon, Bacuna doesn't offer us much at all in that position
  6. Id rather put Lowton at RB and Bacuna on the right of midfield. I agree with this - I much prefer Lowton at RB and think him and Luna as our full backs would offer much more going forward. But with a 4-3-3 I wouldn't have bacuna in the middle, so id bring in Lowton and drop Bacuna to the bench. We need to go at Sunderland from the off.
  7. Cannot stand the prick. You're right, he's a real threat for them which we need to be aware of.
  8. I think the cameraman is taller Maybe Helenius has a position after all
  9. What are we all thinking of the new camera angle? I seem to remember we had a similar one a few years ago. I cant make up my mind - it seems to make the ground look more full as it hides the empty seats well (perhaps this was in the thinking) but i'm always a bit miffed when things like this change - and I thought it was only in the cup we see different angles. Against Everton it was back to normal strangely. Just wondered what you lot thought about it? And if you knew the reasons behind it.
  10. Without wanting to read between the lines too much, that PDF seems to 'indicate' that the I for action that was asked to not be disclosed was in relation to the 'Safe standing' topic of discussion - which, if I'm right, is understandable die to the potentially sensitive issues being addressed - and knowing how the country's media operates - any 'leaking' or 'spinning' f what was said could be very harmful to Avfc... ...or I could be totally wrong of course. Either way, it's an enlightening read.
  11. John Terry didn't think so. Quote "Terry, who made the observation after Chelsea had thumped Villa 7-1, implied that O'Neill's side suffer from fatigue and have a habit of fading in matches. "We knew Villa would tire after 55-60 minutes and that if we kept passing the ball, spaces would appear and chances would come," the Chelsea captain said." FWIW, I can't stand either of the arrogant muppets. Ironically though we had very good results under MON against Chelsea - both home and away and scored goals at the death against them - all of which Terry was playing in, so one result doesn't define our fitness and Terry was daft for suggesting so after being on the end of defeats and poor results against O'neill's Villans.
  12. So Gabby walks straight back in the team even though he hasn't scored this season I think Kozak deserves to keep his place. Gabby has a decent goal scoring record in derby games and his pace is vital in how we play, especially away from home. Must start for me despite his lack of goals. Yeah the problem is we need to choose a team (or rather Lambert does) that is capable of beating the opposition on an individual basis - the team that faced Cardiff would have been comfortably beat at Baggies I feel - and we'll be soaking up pressure that a local derby puts on us so a counter attack and pace is best suited for us - that's why id throw Gabby straight back in for Kozak. Also Gabby is always well up for derby games and has a decent return of goals in them. Fair point but he's been out of form since he returned from his last injury. A 100% Gabby playing like he did at the backend of last season is a definate starter but I'd still keep Kozak in and have Gabby replace Tonev. You don't drop a player who scores do you? Perhaps not and bringing Gabby in for Tonev wouldn't disappoint me at all - although I did feel that we looked better attacking Cardiff when Tonev went out wide and was whipping in crosses. What both Gabby and Tonev have the capability of doing is tracking back to defend which I'm confident we'll need to do against West Brom.
  13. I'm usually late in getting round to seeing films as I struggle to make time to go to the cinema, so I rely on Sky Movies...and have recently watched three excellent films. 1. Argo 2. Django Unchained 3. Zero dark thirty Was very impressed with all of them. Top drawer.
  14. "Dont sack Mackay, Malkie Mackay I just don't think you understand 'Cos if you sack Mackay, Malkie Mackay You're gonna have a riot on your hands"

  16. The teams that win the league always perform away from home - so this is worrying for City.
  17. Got to be happy with the win - much needed. Its important we take points from teams who we (dare I say it) 'should' take points from - and in my opinion West Ham and Cardiff represent that. We have a lot of injuries so that makes the win all that bit sweeter, as well as a (for once) well timed international break which should hopefully allow for one or two of our boys to rest and recoup from injuries ahead of the showdown with West Bromwich 'obsessed with the villa' Albion. We clearly missed Delph today and I thought KEA was completely lost in the middle - the game was just passing him by. There was also a clear lack of decent link up between midfield and attack - until Lambert made the much needed switch, He made the right substitute - although we needed that at HT or around 55-60min mark, I felt. Bacuna's fee kick was immense, our defence looked pretty solid and was great to see Baker and Clark showing their bravery whilst Vlaar finally looks like the player we all hoped he'd be - commanding, assertive and wise to every challenge that presented itself. Westy was better today - and it was refreshing to see him grabbing the ball from Guzan or the defence and try to continually make things happen. Kozak worked hi socks off and was good to see him free up some space at times for Benteke. I like Lowton as our RB, as he is so good on the ball - but having bacuna as a utility player means he cannot rest on his laurels and needs to fight for his place - that is healthy for our club and now with the exception of our defence we have (when we have a fully fit team) plenty of competition for places. Looking forward to Luna returning although Clark was solid today, as he has been when called on all season. First half and indeed up until the goal it was far from pretty and in fact very frustrating at times - largely as the crowd could sense that Cardiff were there for the taking - but after Lambert's substitute and Bacuna's touch of class - we took complete control and could have added more. Points on the board and rest up for the Baggies. Hopefully have Gabby back - as he was missed today. ps, looked like a lot of 'banter' going on in the North Stand lower with the Cardiff lot - anyone who was down there care to share their experience? I've also not seen that many old bill at the game since Blues were last here.
  18. Pretty sure Dortmund would beat Hull away...
  19. Worst performance of the season (well, on a par with Hull) today. I'd be much more disappointed if we'd played Kiel we did today with Delph, Luna and Gabby so hopefully these vid will be back next week. We couldn't string any passes together and gave the ball away carelessly so much. Fortunately West ham carried no threat at all else we wouldn't been in trouble. Noone except Benteke ever looks like scoring for us and its increasingly difficult for him to score as he's heavily marked and we seemingly posess no service to him. I thought Lowton did okay on his return and offers more going forward. I'd like to see him start next week. Back to a week trying to train the boys how to win at home. Need 3points against Cardiff and a performance like against Everton.
  20. Ill be scouring round the coffee shops in Marakech to try find the game. We can't afford to lose tomorrow as the pressure will be on. I expect Lambert to persist with Tonev, esp if Gabby is out
  21. If Luna is injured then id 100% expect Clark to deputise and shift Baker to LB...for whatever reason Lambert doesn't fancy Lowton this year, which is a great shame.
  22. Firsly, i'm pleased we're away from home. I think West Ham will come to attack us which may allow for a counter attack - unlike Hull who just stifled everything we tried to do and were too scared to lose. We really need to not lose this as we're well into the season now and getting to the stage where the games will come thick and fast so we need points on the board. Their midfield is strong when they're at home so we need to be watchful of Noble, Nolan etc - and ensure our defenders deal with the wide threat of Downing and Jarvis (assuming both play). Need Tekkers to be on it this weekend and put to bed that penalty miss by getting back on the scoreline. I think it will be close - just hope Lambert has them fired up.
  23. Ive looked at the London supporters page and its barely touched so thought id ask if anyone knows if there's any pubs in North London where they're likely to be showing the game tomorrow?
  24. One of my favourite ever goals that. Unless he meant one of his webcam endings?
