  1. Guzan doing his best to throw the game away to the opposition again.
  2. Anyone know when the draw for fourth round is?
  3. I honestly said that I felt our home game against Sunderland was a "must win" as I feared for us in our other games thereafter. It's amazing how one game can send us in a tail spin. Leicester away and the fashion in which we lost really sent us tumbling.
  4. Merson said on Soccer Saturday earlier that Watford at home is the worst next fixture for Remi. He said we'll try and go all out to win the game and get picked off. Hard to disagree. Nothing but a win is needed to give us the slightest glimmer of hope. That said, Watford have more shape, belief and fight than we do so can only see a draw at very best and probably a loss. Christ, I used to love football. Thanks Randy.
  5. I've got two points to make: 1. I only really get despondent when we lose games I think we have a chance of winning (or not losing). This wasn't one of them. Disappointing for sure, but not unexpected. 2. A loss hurts a lot less when I don't sit through the game and watch it. Went out for a (freeeeezing cold) cycle around Richmond Park instead.
  6. Why didn't he keep the same team (minus Amavi) as against City? Gil and Grealish in our midfield makes us so weak.
  7. Does anyone have any hope at all that we can stay up?
  8. Just to check here - you're not suggesting that we deserved to get more points than we did under Sherwood are you? RE: relegation, I can't see it happening at the moment. It's way too early in the season and we've got good players, just missing a good striker really. I have faith in Garde to turn things around, I think he'll get us out of the bottom 3 before Christmas. Leicester for one. Sunderland we deserved all 3 points.. so yeah our performance probably did but his bad management cost us. Could argue Palace as well. Agree with all the games you've mentioned. Sherwood's lack of tactical knowledge cost us in all those games. Its a damned insight when the whole of your own fan base knows what one should do in those situations (i.e. 0-2 up away to leics with 20mins left) yet the most important person with the control of making changes simply doesn't. I think if we're ever in that position (and basing this on how we had some shape, plan and ideas against Citeh) then Remi would have much more of an idea of how to see the game out for a win.
  9. Don't want him anywhere near our club. Hope he goes.
  10. He needs benching. Doesn't demand the ball and was useless when he did have it tonight. He needs to be dropped for Gil and fight for his place.
  11. Hard to be disappointed when there's zero expectation. Grealish was pony and needs to be dropped. Gabby non existant as per usual. Gil has to start and Ayew looked lively. Until we get a decent striker we'll struggle. Where the hell is Adama??
  12. The Liverpool street train I was referring to is overground - but point taken, tube can be the worst place to be when you've had a few cheeky ones.
  13. We probably opted for the group discount with Grealish claiming a child's ticket
  14. Wonder if they're using the cheeky Chiltern trains from Moor Street
  15. It's the one game that I remember where I couldn't sleep all night from the frustration of throwing it away. I woke up at 3am and kept punching my pillow.
  16. Due to Spurs being in a shithole people often drink in Liverpool Street before getting the train to the ground.
  17. All set up for a tonking. We'll do well to still be in the game at HT. Does anyone think Adama's exclusion from the bench in the week is an indication that he wont feature on Monday?
  18. Our problem is we have zero ability to achieve a draw if we play for it. Our only draw this season came against the worst team in the league (at the time) when we were favourites and trying to win the game. Our problem is due to our lack of quality up front and considering how there's no link whatsoever between our midfield and attack this subsequently means our defence is put under immense pressure when the opposition has the ball. Add to that how Guzan and the individuals have been gifting goals away means we have no notion or concept for drawing a football game. With your suggested formation of 5-4-1 the big problem is if (when) we concede we then struggle to identify a plan to resurrect the situation (Sherwood struggled massively with this) and our defensive formation becomes an advantage to the opposition and if, like at Liverpool, we persist with the same shape and go two goals down we face a mammoth task to try and rescue the game - a test we have shown (largely down to the inability of using tactics from our previous management) is one step too far for us. Morale of my point: any other Prem team could use a 5-4-1 to stifle Spurs and restrict them. Not Aston Villa, unfortunately.
  19. A mate of mine who is a big Saints fan said Yates in the town centre is an away fans pub.

I'm going to have to start putting "Villatalk" on my timesheet
  21. Very helpful - thanks guys
  22. Just short of selling out. Did we take 3000 as an initial allocation or less? 3,130 I think. If that's the case then that is nothing short of incredible support (once again) by our fans. Irrespective of the cheap tickets that is quite some effort to get down on the south coast on a Wednesday night considering how poorly we've been playing.
