  1. No Kodjia means no bail out for Bruce. He's clueless and I've maintained since he came that he has no idea what he wants to do with us; no shape, no plan and no idea. Mid table at best if he stays. Gutted because we're in dire need of stability but we are way too easy to beat and that is down to Bruce.
  2. I made that comparison too. This guy is a real real talent. He looked the most assured and experienced player on the field tonight. He must be a starter for us.
  3. I think he only faded due to Bruce's substitutions meaning he was switched to the wing. He's clearly best as a no.10 and showed that when played there. He has a great eye for a pass, links up very well with others when going forwards and gets back and gets stuck in. Just what we want and just what we need. Hope Bruce gets him more involved. Fearless youth players like Callum could really show some of our seniors a thing or two.
  4. My Spurs mate said this about him ... "He bossed the under 20 world cup. Best position is deep lying mid, but Poch was worried about his strength so played him further up the field, where he was pretty ineffective."
  5. Early kick off so Bruce can watch I expect, then make the trip back in time for our game against Watford. Unless he's going beats mode on our team and throwing the same players into a double-header
  6. Agree. He's finally got his 'big move' to the Prem with a secure(ash) outfit so can't see it at all.
  7. Disappointing as on the back of a couple of good performances it would have been beneficial to see if we can keep up the momentum and also for Bruce to try more things. Watford will, I feel, be taken more like a dummy run for Hull so it limits Bruce's testing period in a real-game situation.
  8. A review from my mate, a Stoke fan who knows his football ... "Brilliant for you I would think mate. Two very different managers have been trying to replace him since 2009 and, in spite of tens of millions spent, we’ve never found anyone that can do what he does as well or as consistently. For that reason, I’m surprised and alarmed that we’ve sold him without a replacement obviously lined up. Classic holding MF. He breaks up play really well, reads the game exceptionally, works hard, is a leader on the pitch, and is rarely injured (touchwood). He started to show his age a bit last season if I’m being honest, but he’ll absolutely beast the Championship. You won’t notice him much unless you’re looking out for him but you’ll miss him when he doesn’t play. Like a poor man’s Makelele or Seedorf! Top buy for a season or so I reckon."
  9. Brilliant game. I actually think his early sending off had a great deal to do with us getting through that tie. If memory serves me correct, we were already trailing Blackburn at the point of his sending off and it seemed as though we hadn't woken up and Blackburn were really up for it. When they had ten men it become more of a formality for us to win. Was a crazy game. Samba was a huge loss for them. Pleased with having some dominance and presence with our CBs. We've been a soft touch for too long and need to harden up. We've got a decent set of CBs for the Championship. With Baker being made out of butter and Terry not likely to play every game I expect to see Samba get more game time in a rotation system for our defence.
  10. Am still yet to see us win on Sky in my new house so hopefully a home game may give us a better chance. Although we couldn't beat Forest at home last year on Sky so who knows. The first vill game on Sky I watched at home last season was Brentford. I'd been away in Jersey for work and had finished around 4pm. I rushed to the airport, all the flights were delayed by a couple of hours but I sweet-talked the BA girl in the club lounge to et me on the earlier flight. Landed, rushed to get the train from Gatwick back home via the tube. Made it just in time and was absolutely buzzing. Had my dinner ready, beer on the go and the Villa boys ready tor rock on my new Samsung TV. 2-0 down by HT and I just remember sitting back on my sofa, hea din my hands feeling deflated. Typical.
  11. Awful of bruce to do that to Tish. There is a very good player in Tishbola and last season he showed more composure and ability on the ball at times than any other midfielder. To humiliate a player by giving him 20 seconds in a friendly was a low blow.
  12. This guy will become a Holte end hero.
  13. Constantly questioning Bruce and his decision making. He seems totally inept at reacting to situations. Wednesday night showed that and tonight did too, in different ways but both have showed an ineffectiveness in affecting a game through tactical thought. Forest are pretty awful and we simply hoofed it up to them. We're fighting to be a mid table team and considering the money we've spent that is just laughable. Bruce now has a lot of Villa fans questioning him and that will make for a vervous atmosphere at Villa Park. Bruce hit the ground running with us in stopping us constantly losing, but even in the opening games where he stopped the rot it was hurrendous to watch (Wolves, Reading). Now he's regressed from achieving points in games and kept us playing so poor. It boils down to Bruce not having any style of play adopted, no game plan and no idea when things turn. That alone will keep us rooted to this league. At present, were striving to reach mid table and severely struggling at that.
  14. He frustrates me more than any other player we have. He prances around far too much, holds onto the ball too much and isn't interested in the play unless it's over the top.
  15. We'd do well to make mid table at this rate. Total shambles.
  16. Wish him all the best. Always gave his all and, unlike a lot of others last season, didn't surrender. He's been the scapegoat for a lot of fans whereas I believe there have been plenty of other players, both last season and this, who have played much worse and got away without being the victim of some horrendous abuse. I'm v.pleased we have brought in the likes of Lansbury and Hourihane but I wish Westwood all the best with the rest of his career and will look out for him at Burnley.
  17. We were destined to lose. Absolutely gutless performance and we cannot play as a collective. Midfield is painfully weak, absolutely nothing in attack and a very poor defence set this up for a game that is indicative of the Championship; poor on quality, low in substance. Former manager, on Sky and the fact we were due a loss at the custard bowl since 1978 was all too predictable for me. Fair play to Wolves. Best team won. Hugely dissatisfied with Villa. Again.
  18. There'll certainly be a red card, a penalty or a sending off.
  19. Spurs totally nullified any threat from Chelsea and looked far hungrier all game.
  20. All just feels a bit meh. Bruce set us up to keep it 0-0 and then take a chance on snatching it with his subs. This goes out the window when we go a goal behind. The substitutions that followed seemed to work for Leeds and not us. Our attacking players were subsequently in disarray and so disorganised and this led to our collapse. Sadly, it all felt inevitable that we'd lose when Leeds scored. We were out fought in the second half and couldn't match their intensity or pressing. But the run had to end sometime and it's perhaps a reality check. Leeds are decent and we didn't play as good as we showed we can at Brighton but we need to pick up the momentum again next weekend against Wigan as we have a couple of very difficult away games in Norwich and QPR coming up. Will take tonight on the chin. Everyone loses to anyone in this mad league. It was our turn tonight. I have more faith in Bruce in getting us bouncing back than I have in recent managers.
  21. He's atrocious. Genuinely awful. He gets perpetually let off because he is seen to try hard, which is the least I expect from any professional footballer. He just isn't capable unfortunately but I suppose RDL was the intended first choice. RB is a real weak point for us with Hutton's inclusion.
  22. Yeah biggest test so far this season. Looking at how Bruce has set us up so far we're gonna get pummelled with possession but against one of the strongest teams which will be very difficult. I'd pack the midfield as itll be suicide having only Jedi and Gards in the middle, leaving no protection for the defence atall. We were fortunate in that Reading and Fulham had no potency in attack and Wolves and Blues missed their chances. Can't see Brighton being so wasteful so we need to try and win the midfield to have a chance of taking away some points. I think playing against a team who will come right at us could potentially enable us to counter with Kodja and Adomah. Should be a good game for the punters tuning in and we should relish it.
  23. He's definitely capable of being a useful squad player for us in this league. And I think he's useful when, in a winning position, he can be left up top due to his pace. I used to say his best "skill" was winning us throw-ins and corners from long punts down field as he has the pace to pressure defenders. This is a key asset when required, thus making him a useful component in our squad.
