  1. Why not make the 3rd sub in so many games this season despite players clearly fading or playing poorly, not just this 9ne but throughout the season?
  2. If he was afraid to bring them on, why put them on the bench? Not tired? Jota and lansbury were clearly huffing madly from about 55 minutes. Each time liverpool had a spell of possession, they were able to stroll through our midfield with ease. Too light weight, too sloppy and too weak. But then, you could say that in nearly every game this season
  3. I write what i see, and for the most part we were 2nd best to a bunch of kids. Nothing to be proud of for most of them. Nyland and Kodjia deserve credit for winning the game, the rest, mostly meh. Dont let the scoreline fool you, we were not 5 goals better than liverpool tonight, not by a very long way.
  4. I think the scoreline papers over some massive cracks in this 'team'. 2nd best for most of the 1st half but for 2 moments of good fortune, and a quality finish. Several top saves from Nyland. Could have been a very different story. Nyland - 9 my motm. Made 4 or 5 quality stops. His passing is dreadful, but if he makes that many quality saves every game, i think i'd take that. Taylor - 4 absolutely dire. Cant defend at all. Kills almost every attack and hurls abuse at others for not doing his job for him. Elliott might be a good player, but taylor made him look far better than he is. Chester - 6 didnt do much wrong or right really. Great to see him back. But i think he is finished in the PL. Konsa - 6 similar to chester, not much right or wrong. Elmo - 6 god he annoys me. One minute he is controlling it and putting about great passes/crosses the next he is giving it away too easily in dangerous positions. I hope he isnt still here next season. Luiz - 6 yes, he made some great passes and looked good on the ball at times. He also spent a lot of time hiding from the defence the wrong side of an opponent and giving hospital passes back to defence. There is a player in there, he just needs to learn not to need 50 touches and 20 minutes on the ball to do it. Hourihane - 6 another who irritates me. Great left foot, but thays about it. Massive bottler. Pulls out of challenges about 30 seconds before they happen and lacks aggression. Lansbury - 6 looked like he was playing up front most of the game. Closed down well and great energy, but wasteful with the ball and lacked any real quality. Trez - 5 tries hard, has got pace, but either doesnt know how to use it or just isnt good enough to make the most of it. Jota - 5 yeah, great feet, but he was done by half time and has no pace. I cant see him ever playing well in the PL. Kodjia - 8 great poachers goal and 2 very nice finishes. What more can you ask? He is lazy, selfish and his passing is poor, but he was close to his best tonight. Wes - 7 put himself about a bit and got a very nice goal. Another though who looks lazy when not near the ball. Hause - 6 cant really recall him doing anything of note. Looks to have lost a bit of weight. Smith - 6 yeah, we won 5 - 0 but it could easily have been so different. He continues to frustrate me with late and unused subs. The midfield was crying out for fresh legs from 60m and he did nothing. Yeah he maybe didnt want to risk mcginn and grealish but it could just as easily meant one of those on the pitch getting injured - i just dont get it. It'll be a very different team against southampton, and a very different proposition, but the players will take some confidence from this, and fingers crossed for a similar scoreline!
  5. Don't care about this game, the league is far more important.
  6. To me it looks like DS is losing the dressing room. Noone wants to pass to Wes as they have no faith in his ability, and a few are showing signs of frustration in the roles they are being asked to play that arent their natural positions. Add to that, players in poor form not getting dropped when others in good form are, then you've got a cauldron of malcontent. DS, for me, is still making the same mistakes now, as he was on day 1, same tactic all the time, like for like subs, if subs at all, taking off effective players and leaving on ineffective ones, the list goes on. Then you see his change of demeanor and attitude pre-match and you have to wonder. The man looks beaten. 2 defeats over xmas, and i think he'll be gone by new year.
  7. Must not lose this! Lose here, and the teams confidence will disappear, and i'd fear for the following games. I think this one is so important that a loss in this one could see us ultimately relegated. Confidence would be so low, i think we'd struggle to get any points in this easier run of fixtures. A draw or win here, and we will survive.
  8. Grealish gave a few extra digs to Ndidi off the ball too which i think he was lucky to escape punishment for.
  9. 1st goal goes on DS as even a blind man could tell you Mings wasnt going to run that off. If he makes the sub right away, mings isnt 20 yards behind play playing everyone on side and vardy cant make the run he does to score. Felt konsa was really unlucky as he nearly stopped vardy . Mcginn gave the ball away and committed a load of poor fouls. Hasnt had a good game for us in 2 months. Wesley, doesnt win headers, cant control the ball, doesnt hold it up. The rest of the team dont pass to him often so everyone clearly has no faith in him. Wtf is DS doing putting elmo on Evans at corners? Their biggest aerial threat - ridiculous. Having said that, el ghazi should have had a hat trick today. Thought nakamba was decent, broke up play well, and i think that we lost control of the game only after he went off. For me, mcginn and wesley atm is like starting with 9 they are so bad. Elmo should not have started, hes just not up to it anymore. Luiz had some great moments but some poor ones too. Needs to toughen up. Grealish - lucky man tonight with his kick of ndidi off the ball. Thought hed grown out of that sh1t I dont think we were awful, we created some decent chances, but the better team certainly won. Ds gave them a helping hand though.
  10. Fully agree, i just think Davis is better at this than Wes is. With the obvious drawback that Davis doesn't/can't finish. If fit, given how we play, i think Davis is the better suited striker despite his lack of goals.
  11. Carroll won at least three: one where he should have scored himself, but heaton made a good stop, and two where he laid it off, for i think it was jowlinton to fire horribly off target. All 3 were very good chances.
  12. Maybe it was the sloppy passes, maybe it was the laboured breathing, but mcginn and guilbert were clearly struggling after 60 mins. I could equally say, if he brought on elmo and nakamba we'd have scored two more due to a better engine and fresh legs but we'll never know. Point being, on more than a few occassions, we've been a goal or 2 to the good, players have visibly tired, and as a result started making unforced errors, DS has done nothing and its cost us points. It could easily have done so again today as they had succificient quantity and qualiry of chances to score a couple, yet DS didnt change anything. History has shown, not making changes until 91 minutes will cost you more often than making changes early. Until DS learns this lesson, we'll stay in a relegation fight.
  13. No, def not shit. But still not good enough for me, and i dont think his strength match our style of play. Seen someone say he should have been played in more, and wasn't cos our midfield likes to shoot. I think they dont play him in cos they know his finishing is poor and theyve a better chance of scoring themselves
  14. Really? He should have scored at least one, and laid on 2 chances for his team mates within 10 mins of stepping into the game. I personally thought we handle him very poorly.
  15. Completely agree. Looks to me like DS wants to play with natural wingers, putting crosses in: Wes isnt particularly good in the air. We don't gernerally hoof it, good job as hes isnt good in the air, but his hold up play isnt very good either, and neither is his passing. His best quality is dropping deep pulling out defenders and creating space, but he isnt good enough at this to cover up his other inadequacies. I think Davis (yes, i know hes injured) is better at the things Wes does to a far greater degree than Wes is better at what Davis isnt good at, which is scoring goals. There are far better players out there for similar money, but it all depends on what DSs long term plan is. All players being fit, based on what ive seen this season, Davis suits our play far better than Wes does, as his is better aerially, is stronger, holds it up better and has better distribution and pace. The only thing Wes does better than davis is score, and he isnt hugely better at that. Wide players and a striker are vital for me in jan.
  16. Felt we were good forst half, credit to DS, think he sent them out the right way and the right selection. 1st half got him a v good rating. I dont know what he said at half time, but half the team switched off and a few of them were dead on their feet come 60 minutes. I feel we only didnt concede due how bad they were rather than us doing well. He really could and should have made changes at that stage as players were flagging and newcastle were well on top. Then when carroll came on and we looked dreadful defensively, and couldnt handle him, DS still did nothing. Poor game management and use of subs YET AGAIN and for me, we are very fortunate to have survived it. I dont understand brining lansbury on after 91 minutes. Pointless. He gets a very poor for the 2nd half, as i feel that there were plenty of great options on the bench to address the balance of play, and he did nothing. It worked on this occassion, but hasnt on many others, and i really feel it was dumb luck, not skill. I'm delighted with the result, but DS frustrates me massively. I really dont see anything from him to show he's learning.
  17. Mcginn has been getting worse and worse last few games. I think he needs to miss a couple of games like last season and maybe he comes back to himself. Our front 3 though have to be replaced in January as they just arent up to the required standard
  18. DS poor again for me. He is not learning from his mistakes. Same errors today as on day 1. Predictable and ineffective.
  19. But we had 3 or 4 good chances that we really should have scored. We desperately need a new front 3 in jan
  20. I'd rather try and win personally. Wrong man off wrong man 9n. Yet more poor game management from ds
