Why would Vlaar sign a new contract? He just had a brilliant World Cup, has a much bigger global profile now, plays for a club that has almost been relegated in consecutive seasons, that has little money to spend on new players, and is up for sale.

Woot, dismissed, no jury duty! It was funny for a minute there, because the judge came in to give his good government speech, and referenced King George. Blank stares around the room.

I got dismissed last time on a B&E case, and I'm guessing it was because they saw on my questionnaire that my uncle was a policeman, and thought I might be biased against the accused...so I'm praying for another criminal case.

Watched "The Grand Budapest Hotel" last night. Cute for cute's sake. Not a bad movie at all, just so-so. I think Wes Anderson will never make a movie as funny, original and with as much heart as "Rushmore". Hard act to follow despite his best efforts. I'd like to see him try something outside his comfort zone, like a thriller or a straight up drama, and maybe even an adaptation from something somebody else wrote. At this point, his bag of tricks has been found out, IMO.

Thoroughly enjoyable final from start to finish. Germany were the better side on the day, and throughout the tournament. Deserving winners. Argentina's missed chances will haunt them forever, but full credit to them, they were a much better defensive team than I expected to see. Who'd have thought it would be their attack to let them down? Superb goal from Schurlle and Goetze. One for the ages. Congrats to Germany. One month flies by, doesn't it?
