  1. That state of that shirt Emi was wearing is an abject embarrassment. Our first dip back into Europe and we broadcast that image around the world. WTF is going on at the club that this is allowed to happen?
  2. On the bright side of things, it's really cool to play meaningful games against random exotic clubs again.

    Jhon Durán

Looks like he smells blood every time he has the ball. 4 goals on the season. Our in-form striker. Doubt he starts Sunday but if Ollie remains cold it won't be long.
  4. Just finished watching it. Absolutely flaccid performance. We gifted them their first two goals. We were out of rhythm. Leggy, sloppy and unfocused. Would much rather have had Ashley Young starting at RB than Chambers, who we need to replace in January. If Tielemanns was auditioning for the start on Sunday vs Chelsea, he failed. Not sure where Digne's head was on their first goal, but I'd have been tempted to sub him off right then and there if I were Emery. That second half leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. Credit Legia, they played like they thought they could win, and I was impressed with them. They were tidy and well drilled and took their chances well, even though two of them were on a silver platter. Credit their fans who never stopped singing and never sat down. This will be another reality check for Villa, and Emery, but nothing to worry about.... yet. We can't continue to underestimate our opposition. Duran MOTM, his goal was more difficult than it initially looked, and he should have been awarded a penalty after his excellent turn in the box. The defender literally pulled him down to the ground and nothing was called. Ollie had one or two opportunities to test their keeper but couldn't make it happen. Ice cold Ollie again. And Duran up to 4 goals. I expect Ollie to start on Sunday but if he remains cold, I wonder if Emery opts to start Duran at some point. Anyway, Legia getting the W is probably the right result on the whole. They wanted it more and deserved the result. A win against Chelsea will make up for this sad foray back onto the continent.
  5. Tielemans played here before, he's due a start and I expect he will.
  6. Sounds like things could get dicey there. Be careful, Villans!
  7. Im trying to sort out the controversy here. Brand has been credibly accused by someone of sexual abuse which has triggered additional accusations of similar criminal acts. It has been noted here that despite the compelling evidence, Brand enjoys vocal support from an array of notorious right wing conspiracy theorists and misogynists, at least one of whom is charged with rape and human trafficking. So why the running argument in this thread? Brand is a scumbag and he is being supported by scumbags. End of.
  8. Yeah, I never started pondering my mortality until fairly recently (I'm 52). I've been taking pretty good care of my body, which is something I didn't do well for many years. But I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. It's in the genes. But a good 20 years of drinking and smoking didn't help my cause. But I'm more mindful of my health now, and that's a blessing that has come with getting older. Unfortunately I live with chronic pain, sometimes debilitating pain. And each year, the aches and pains and injuries that used to heal just don't heal now. It can sometimes really torpedo my mood and outlook on life. But I try to keep things in a healthy perspective. The fact is I can still go walk trails, ride my bicycle, do yard work, etc. Although this year I'm buying a snowblower because shoveling is probably the worst activity I can do for my back. As has been said in this thread, the alternative to this is a black void, so I'll take what I can get from this life and try to enjoy it. In fact, you do tend to appreciate the good things and good times more with age.
  9. I've got issues with Steve Schmidt (John McCain's presidential campaign manager), the biggest issue being his selection and elevation of Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate. She was dangerously ignorant and manifestly unqualified for the job, but Schmidt knew she'd appeal to a huge swathe of the GOP base BECAUSE she was ignorant and unqualified. Her far right populist persona helped set the table for a carnival barking demagogue like Trump. It was a cynical and irresponsible move by Schmidt. And a losing one, ultimately. But I credit Smith for breaking with the GOP over Trump and being one of the most vocal Republican critics of Trumpism. His take on Brand is similar to what has been expressed in this thread.
  10. The first murder scene at the start of the film scared the sh*t out of me. But then the lake murders scene was even more frightening. Incredibly well filmed scenes.
  11. Everything about Miami Vice (the first season in particular) flipped the standard, formulaic cop show on it's head. The inclusion of contemporary popular music hadn't been done before, and the show used it liberally. Those trademark hyper-stylized edits were just not done either. (Check how you never hear the engine of the car. Very deliberate choice by Michael Mann and it was COOL. The show shouldn't have lasted more than 3 years. It got really bad. But the first season was a pivot point for television. It expanded the palette for the entire industry. Completely different genre, but there would be no Twin Peaks without Miami Vice, and no Sopranos without Twin Peaks. And the Sopranos set the table for all the amazing television that followed. Thanks for the trip back in time, @sne
  12. Anyone seen "The Gold", about a bank heist set in early 80's England? Any good? I like a good heist movie/series.
  13. This guy does some great deep thinking.
  14. Great channel. The life stories of all finds of characters, usually people who are/were on the streets in one capacity or another.
  15. @StefanAVFC Any hooligan element with these? Any political affiliation? And lastly: CONGRATS ON THE NEWBORN!
  16. I love the skill and artistry of this.
  17. Alex Jones would emulate that Rwandan deejay if he's given cover to do it.
  18. There's an extra hot corner of Hell awaiting Alex Jones for what he put the Sandy Hook families through. Absolute human sewage.
  19. You've put Jordan Peterson there at the back. You clearly haven't done your "research"!
