I think most people on here support a two state solution. I think most people here recognize that Hamas is a hindrance to peace. I think most people agree that current Israeli policy is a hindrance to peace as well. In the year
2014, pushing for more settlements seems ludicrous and counterproductive to say the least. The leadership on both sides is defective.
I think most people here feel as though Israel has the right to defend itself from rocket attacks. (The iron dome knocks down about 98% of fired rockets, so, good job)
I'm willing to bet that most posters here would not have objected to precision strikes inside Gaza aimed at weapons caches and Hamas leadership locations.
What has turned this situation on it's head has been the targeted slaughter of innocent women and children at clearly marked safe zones like United Nations buildings, schools and hospitals.
The IDF have quite clearly violated international law and whatever good will and support they had two weeks ago is gone.
It's similar to the good will the USA had after 9/11. The whole world was at our side. Then we destroyed a nation on false pretenses and the world quickly smartened up and left us in droves. And who could blame them?
When nations of similar values are unable to be convinced of the merits of your cause and the means by which you pursue it, it is a good time to reevaluate your methods, if not your cause.
