  1. I think most people on here support a two state solution. I think most people here recognize that Hamas is a hindrance to peace. I think most people agree that current Israeli policy is a hindrance to peace as well. In the year 2014, pushing for more settlements seems ludicrous and counterproductive to say the least. The leadership on both sides is defective. I think most people here feel as though Israel has the right to defend itself from rocket attacks. (The iron dome knocks down about 98% of fired rockets, so, good job) I'm willing to bet that most posters here would not have objected to precision strikes inside Gaza aimed at weapons caches and Hamas leadership locations. What has turned this situation on it's head has been the targeted slaughter of innocent women and children at clearly marked safe zones like United Nations buildings, schools and hospitals. The IDF have quite clearly violated international law and whatever good will and support they had two weeks ago is gone. It's similar to the good will the USA had after 9/11. The whole world was at our side. Then we destroyed a nation on false pretenses and the world quickly smartened up and left us in droves. And who could blame them? When nations of similar values are unable to be convinced of the merits of your cause and the means by which you pursue it, it is a good time to reevaluate your methods, if not your cause.
  2. I like being an uncle. All the cool things about being a father minus the responsibility.
  3. Oakland is basically saying that it's now or never. I'll be rooting for them.
  4. The long held consensus view is that starting pitching is more valuable than hitting in the postseason. Now Oakland has arguably the best rotation in the AL. And they gave up a guy that is only batting .240 on the year. They'll miss his power, but they'll be pleased to have Lester. It's a roll of the dice, but if anyone is good at making calculated gambles, it's Billy Beane.
  5. "Super Frankie Lampard" to Manchester City... I wonder if Chelsea will remove the "Super Frankie Lampard" banner from Stamford Bridge. "Super Frankie Lampard"
  6. #3 is Ludacris #2 Timbaland?
  7. That was a wild day. Detroit pulled Austin Jackson from the game to tell him he'd been traded. Hugs all around the dugout and he's gone just like that.

  9. It'll be hard to match the first one, but why not try-
  10. Had to press pause while watching Raid: Redemption cuz the relentless violent gore was getting to be a bit much. It's a well made movie, and I like good mindless action, but jeeezus.
  11. Knock on wood that he stays healthy, we need him desperately. Baker and Herd are MLS level defenders.
  12. Boston's best hip hop export other than Guru
  13. LOL, a buddy of mine is in Spain, and he just texted me about the trades. Probably drunk on Sangria and feeling homesick.
  14. Lackey to St. Louis for Allen Craig and Joe Kelly. There's talk that the plan is to sign Lester after the season ends because Oakland can't afford him. So we'd end up with Lester back in the fold and Cespedes in left field.
  15. Hate to say it, but it calls Petrov's scouting abilities into question. He should've known the kid was a lightweight and not ready to make the step up to the English top flight. Unless he was just trying to help a fellow countryman get paid...
  16. Lester to Oakland for Cespedes... Lefty workhorse aces are very hard to replace. I guess the plan now is to try and out slug the opposition next year. The traditional Red Sox approach....
  17. The first movie I saw with Sam Rockwell in it was "Box of Moonlight" with John Turturro. It grossed about five dollars, but it's a sweet little subversive film.
