While I like this development, and I understand how his philosophy makes sense, I do cringe a little bit at some of the corporate-speak. I also noticed at one point he said of fans "They think it's a club.", as if to say he thinks it's strictly a business. I know I'm nitpicking...

I expect that whomever the owner is might take exception to that claim.

I expect a rebranding at some point within the next year. I expect "Aston Villa" will reappear on the badge. I expect preseason friendlies in Asia, a better kit deal, the stadium being renamed , a higher profile shirt sponsor, and a bigger push into Birmingham itself, through promotional events, community outreach, youth programs etc. Fox probably thinks Villa has the potential to draw 65K fans, given the size of the city, and I'd have to agree. That's a ways off, though...

Must give Lerner some credit where due, I never expected this degree of improvement to the club (including Keane and Fox) since the news of the club being put up for sale.

My guess is a sale is imminent, he already knows what his salary will be and how much money will be allotted to the football side of things. No way this man comes to Aston Villa not knowing he's landed on firm ground. Very promising development!

St. Louis police have shot and killed a black guy today...3 miles from Ferguson. This is going to get worse before it gets better. I can't recall such incompetent law enforcement since this. Actually, the police proved to be totally useless during the LA riots in 1992. Korean shopkeepers stood on their roofs with rifles to prevent looting because police would not enter the area. Pathetic. I think over 70 people were killed.

Should I drive 45 minutes to play poker, or take the subway 10 minutes to my barber? This poker room only plays sit and go tournaments, so top 3 at the table cash. And I rarely have good luck there.

Did you see the documentary on BBC Four last night, Great Poets in Their Own Words? Linton was featured, which was pretty cool. He also did a great documentary radio series about the history of Jamaican music for the BBC, which is well worth a listen. I saw him play in Cambridge, Mass. a while back. After the show finished, I went to take a piss, and there was LKJ taking a piss right next to me. I suppose this story should go in the Rubbish Claims to Fame thread....

To be honest I actually prefer it when we wear Claret shorts and more Claret as we look more unique and less Burnley, West Hamish! But it was those clubs who copied Villa!

Looking at Burnley's shirts makes me wonder why we don't have that proper shade of claret too. West Ham have the proper shade as well. But somewhere along the line (I think when we had Diadora) our shade of claret veered toward a dark hot pink... and hasn't changed since. How do we change this awkward situation?

I expect Villa Park to be absolutely buzzing for this one. Newcastle will be a bigger test than that awful Stoke performance was, but if Lambert gets his team selection right, I think we could end up with another 3 points. Changes to the starting lineup that I'd make: Sit CNZ for Grealish Sit Gabby for Bent Sit Westwood for Sanchez
