  1. Apparently "Twin Peaks" is coming back to television. David Lynch involved, too. I think it'll be a mistake. The original was so unique, and so perfectly early 1990's, I can't see how it makes sense to do it again, other than money.
  2. "She Who Laughs, Lasts" I see that around here from time to time. Makes me want to run them off the road.
  3. He was a black Liberian visiting family.
  4. Speaking from a strictly selfish and foreign perspective, without the advent of the Premier League, I'd never have been exposed to the wonders of English club football. All we got back in 1992 was a 30 minute highlight show at 3AM that showed 2 week old results. But it was enough to hook me for life. It's a small world now, and has been since satellite/24hr cable TV and the internet. The appeal of English football was so strong, it took over the world. It's something to be proud of. But time marches on, the world is more interconnected than ever, so is it any wonder Man Utd and Real Madrid can sell out a 109,000 seat stadium in Michigan for a friendly? Or that Wembley regularly sells out for NFL games? It's the way it is, for better or worse, and for what it's worth, I can see both sides of the argument. Success and trendiness can dilute authenticity. Here in Boston, Fenway Park used to be full of old timers with cigars and scorecards, rowdy drunks, and a general atmosphere of grittiness and menace. Now it's full of rich people who don't care about the result, but would rather take selfies and eat sushi in the concourse. And lighting a cigar will get you tossed. Things have been sanitized (sorry Tony).
  5. The victim was a black Liberian who was visiting his brother in Dallas.
  6. It's a terrible idea, just like the NFL playing real games in London is a terrible idea. Pre-season games in foreign countries is more than plenty enough.
  7. In case anyone was wondering
  8. La Liga says they will ban Barca and Espanyol from the league if Catalonia gains independence... There could be a "Secession League" with Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs, Barca, Espanyol, Bilbao, Real Sociedad, Osasuna, Sampdoria, Genoa, Shaktar Donetsk...
  9. Yeah, I'm sick of boring St. Louis. Although Yadier Molina is my favorite non-Boston player. LA-SF would have been electric.
  10. I wish I had that level of self control. If I could drink one whisky with one cigarette at the end of every day before bed, I'd do it. But once I start with both, I just don't stop.
  11. 19 year old me: 43 year old me:
  12. Good points, but when was the last time the man on the street had any influence on a vote to fund a war? I'm afraid the wheels on this one were put in motion years ago, and there's no stopping it.
  13. It's a tenuous comparison. AIDS was an obvious crisis that needed government funding to study and treat it. Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq was a crisis that was totally made up. Anyhow, I'd hope that most people would view people clamoring for money to be spent on war with more suspicion than those clamoring for money to be spent on life.
  14. How did Kate Moss hurt her eye?
  15. 'Endless war' might be over egging things a touch, but 30 years isn't unthinkable. Europe went through exactly the same thing when Christianity went to war with itself. Despite claims to the contrary the current conflict in the ME is at its root a religious confrontation. Gleefully exploited by the usual corporate parasites and their bidders in Congress and Parliament.
  16. Raytheon and Lockheed Martin stock is skyrocketing right now.....and that is what this all boils down to, in my estimation. Radical jihadism with it's real and contrived menace is the goose that keeps laying the golden egg for the military industrial complex. We have people like Hillary Clinton and Leon Panetta saying things like "Endless war", and "30 year war"....music to the ears of weapons manufacturers and their shareholders. It's a diseased world we live in.
  17. I'm on Obamacare. It doesn't cover crowns, or at least the plan I'm on. The bill that was passed is watered-down bullshit that keeps the money flowing the same way it always has. Insurance companies are still raking it in.
  18. Just got a crown attached to a rear molar after a month of delays and mishaps. The thing better last, cuz I just paid $1,350 for it. For that money, I could've flown to Brum, saw Villa play, and had a few shekels left over for dwarf strippers in my hotel room.
  19. I've beaten my team projection all five weeks so far...3-2 now with 2 wins on the trot....but my WR situation is a concern
