  1. If Okore gets dropped there's going to be training ground drama at precisely the worst possible time. Lambert needs to show he's the boss and have Vlaar fight for the right to start. No starting place should be guaranteed to anyone.
  2. What did the blind man say when passing by the fish monger? "Hello, ladies."
  3. I hope they move the Rams back where they came from, that dome sucks
  4. It's all about need. If the Mets wanted a young player with a big bat and a great glove in LF, they'd have had to make a painful sacrifice. They chose not too. Detroit could afford to lose Porcello, cuz they've got a great rotation w/o him. Meanwhile, we've also added Made Wiley and Justin Masterson to the rotation! 3 pitchers in a one day, I love it. And I bet we still go after a true ace like James Shields. Mets need good hitters though, not guys with power numbers who will be wasted at Citi. Not only that but Cespedes is someone we probably couldn't afford to resign. Giving up deGrom or Wheeler, 2 of the better young pitchers in baseball, for what would essentially be a 1 year rental would be madness. And the Metropolitans agree! But why would it have only been a 1 year contract? As for it being disrespectful, I have to disagree. Cespedes is a power hitter with Gold Glove defensive ability, and he's still quite young. Straight up for deGromm or Wheeler does not seem outlandish at all. But teams usually value pitching over hitting, and the Mets are no exception, it seems. With Harvey back, you will have a formidable rotation. Your lineup is a question mark though.
  5. When someone has posted about their sick mother having been robbed, it is advisable not to ask wether the sickness makes the robbery worse. It comes across as exceptionally callous and instigative, and you've treated me and a few other people on here with that same casual disregard over the past few months, and I've called you out on it. I was willing to overlook it before, but tonight you've made me snap. Sorry for boring everyone with this, it's the last I'll post on the matter.
  6. He went back to edit in an apology, I'd have let it drop right there had it been part of the original post. No, don't ask it because it's bad manners. On the contrary. You've sent two PM's to me previously apologizing for "contretemps", and both times I was happy to let things slide. But for the last few months or so you seem to take enjoyment from throwing rocks, and in this instance, I'm calling you on it. I think it's poor form on your part, end of.
  7. It's a fascinating debate, and I don't think world football has ever had one quite like this one. People compare Pele to Maradona, but they were from different eras. Ronaldo and Messi are the greatest players maybe EVER, and they happen to be playing at the same time and in the same league, battling it out every weekend for the crown of who's best. It's incredible stuff, really.
  8. This trade makes me sad. Not sure Grandal is on the up really? Numbers down since PED suspension and ACL surgery. Don't think he represents that much of an upgrade on AJ Ellis. The two young pitchers don't seem much cop either. I forgot about the injury. But he's still young and I think his ceiling is much higher than Kemp. Anyway, LA didn't want to sign the 30 yr old, often injured and inconsistent Kemp to big money, so they made the deal. Clearly they think Grandal is an improvement on Ellis. Time will tell. But Kemp's power is very patchy, even in Dodger Stadium. In Petco, he'll be a marginal power threat.
  9. This suggests you knew what you were writing was uncalled for. Your response suggests that your 'opinion' isn't quite as spot on as you probably think it is, Mike. Edit: I said I wouldn't but: My worry was that whenever one might mention something about a situation which involves cancer then one automatically becomes a bad guy (a jerk, someone stirring things up, someone picking something apart and so on). That was what I meant and your post (as opposed to Ben's posts) sodding well backs up that worry. I shan't respond any further until the mods have had their say. If you were worried about how it might come across given the personal context of the posts, then just don't ask the question. In my opinion it's a perfectly legitimate question to ask, but just at a different time and within a much less personal context.
  10. This suggests you knew what you were writing was uncalled for. And by the way, "the victims" are the parents of members of this forum.
  11. 'So'? So? suggests I want a fight about it whereas I was just looking for clarification on what was meant. It certainly wasn't meant to belittle, separately, the experience of being burgled or the experience of dealing with cancer. You know exactly what you're doing, it's just you acting like a jerk again, snowychap. Pressing peoples buttons and stirring shit up. There's no need to pick apart sharky's post like that, have some respect for **** sake.

  13. It could be worse, you could live in New England Flipping 'eck, judging by the age of those cars, that must have been one hell of snowdrift, if they have only just dug them out. Hipster neighborhood, it's from last week That is actually the day after the "Blizzard of '78" which buried Massachusetts. I was a little kid then, and the snow drift went over our front door. Mayhem and aggravation for the adults, but for us kids it was a week off from school, and nothing but sledding, snow forts and snow ball fights.
  14. That's terrible sharky, my blood boils with you. It happened to me once, and it still puts me in a rage. That your mum is in chemo too, is just really terrible. I hope they catch the scumbags that did it.
  15. Harry Kane's face. Even his name annoys me. Harry Kane.
  16. Dodgers trade Matt Kemp to San Diego for Yasmani Grandal and prospects. Good trade for LA, not sure why SD made this trade, Grandal is a catcher on the up, Kemp is a hitter in decline, and now he's hitting in the biggest park in MLB.
  17. Ina roundabout way, this could also be a case for Ronaldo. For a player that has LESS of the ball over the course of a match, he has roughly the same impact in terms of goals scored and putting his team on his back.
  18. I do anyway. Mind I hate Real too. Athletic Bilbao is where it's at! Celta Vigo. Even though they were our European nemesis, I respected them as a club, still do.
  19. It could be worse, you could live in New England
  20. Amazing what "Ultra" did for the war effort in WW2. How the Germans didn't know their code was broken is equally amazing.
  21. My neighbors dog is named Xavi, and he doesn't stop barking. It's making me hate Barcelona.
  22. Almost 4 years since this poll went up. Wondering if anyone would go back and change their vote....
  23. I'm on to your strategy, 1991. Just wanted you to know that I know. But I don't know how to counter it. Not yet, anyway...
  24. Looking at the standings, I noticed that Trinity has 16 CS and 62 CR, for a total score of 111. I have 16 CS and 53 CR for a total of 110, just a point below him. Is that right? Could my CR tally actually be 63, not 53? If it is, then I should be tied with Isa. And if it's 53, shouldn't I have a lower total score? Also, if Trinity is tied with Isa on CS and only 1 CR lower than him, why is he 8 total points lower than Isa? Not trying to break your balls Rodders, just trying to make sense of the numbers!
