Just came into the thread to mention this. Kevin Pearce gave a talk at our company leadership conference at the end of last year. An incredible guy, and an incredible story. I just stumbled on this doc last year, hadn't heard a word about it, and it floored me. Gut wrenching stuff.

For me, Otis Redding was like meat and potatoes R&B, a lunchbox type of soul singer. He hit his marks and that was that. I never felt uplifted or moved by anything of his that I've heard. There was a bit too much emoting going on, kind of touching on what Moon Man said. It's almost like he was faking it...

Say what?! I love soul and R&B, but I could never get into Otis Redding. Still can't. I find his singing style kind of basic, and the tunes as well.
