  1. What worries me a little is that he'll only bring in players that he wants to fit his style and his system and not bring in players that would benefit the club long term in an alternative style and system, (another manager's). Carles Gil is a prime example. Gil is a game changer, a David Silva type of player, exactly the kind of creative midfielder we've all been crying out for for years and Sherwood completely froze him out. It's worrying because it suggests stubbornness and inflexibility. All our midfielders did yesterday was dribble into three defenders over and over again. Gil has the guile and vision to create space and have a shot at goal from range, or make that incisive pass that can lead to a goal. Grealish really should have come off at halftime for Gil, or Sinclair. Delph was having a shocker too.
  2. For me, reggae is as varied as rock music. Most of it sucks, just like most rock music sucks. But if you parse through all the crap and only play the gems, which my boss has a good ear for, it makes for great listening.
  3. Don't we have one already in Carles Gil? Yes. Gil can slow things down and dictate the offense with his guile and skill. What a shame he has been frozen out. It's one of the reasons I have doubts about Sherwood. Does his pride and ego cloud his judgement? Should Gil have played against Southampton, or Burnley? For me the answer is clearly yes. Cleverley belongs in there too. But Gil earned the right to at the very least be used as a substitute.
  4. Not enough movement from forward players off the ball. Kind of told the tale from early on. We were never going to win that. Too tired, too nervous, whatever, Arsenal are so superior, even if we did show up, it would have been a very difficult match.
  5. Sherwood did his job, not always in stellar fashion, but he kept us up. I have misgivings about his suitability long term, his egoism, his mistakes. Not sure he is the right guy. I can see a team turning on him when results go down the toilet for a 5 week stretch in November-December. But in some ways he has earned the right to have a full season's go. I'm on the fence, TBH. the last three games seems like he lost the plot, and whatever mental lift he'd given the squad has worn off.
  6. sad, I'm glad i don't support a sky club, soft and passionless fans
  7. The silver lining is we are still a Premier League club, with a TV deal windfall coming, and perhaps a new owner with more money to spend on better players. We proved to all the people who wanted to see us relegated that Villa are a proud club who do not surrender. We were outplayed by a better team yesterday, it's as simple as that. We don't have many big game players, their lineup is full of them. The occasion may have got to us. Certainly seemed like Grealish was playing tentative and Benteke had a bad day. The manager probably should have made wholesale changes at halftime, but didn't and the subs he did make were pointless. We came out nervous, Arsenal smelled blood and it was over the moment they scored their first. Very disappointing result, embarrassing that that's the Villa team that the entire world saw yesterday as we are capable of much better football than that. But for me, the big prize was always survival. We will be back next year with a stronger team, and try to progress in all competitions. I'm proud of the team for showing the fight and spirit to survive the relegation scrap and make it to the FA Cup Final. It was a mostly abysmal season, but they gave us some thrills too, so I'm gonna focus on those positives. Arsenal were better than us, we lost. We will be back, and we will win it. UTV Forever.
  8. I think they threw themselves so hard at the survival scrap that they were running on fumes today, and have been since the Soton match.
  9. Richardson of all people. Kind of says it all doesn't it?
  10. Mentally and physically burnt out team against a team with a machine for a midfield who hardly put one foot wrong. (Except for the two penalties that weren't given). Our primary objective was secured 2 weeks ago, but by then you could see the fatigue set in. Today they were caught ball watching time and time again. Given's positioning let him down on two goals, Guzan would probably have stopped them. That said, Given did have a couple of fine saves. Our Cup Final was survival unfortunately. Given the last two results, this one shouldn't be much of a surprise. Proud of the team to get to the final, just wasn't going to happen today. UTV
  11. Weve been ball watching all day long, mentally unprepared and maybe physically burnt out. And Arsenal are better in every phase.
  12. Pretty sure he is a native new yorker
  13. Not a good audition for the managers job from Sherwood the last 3 games. Suddenly hes not quite the shoe in we thought he was.
  14. We don't need a goal. We need to keep there score down. Id rather lose 6-0 trying to tie the game
  15. Down 3 goals and he brings Sanchez on holy ****
  16. Biggest global audience for a Villa match ever, and they see this pitiful display.
  17. Our cup final was league survival apparently
