    Hell Is...

Going to a nightclub with Jack Wilshere.
  3. Going to a nightclub with Jack Wilshere sounds like my idea of Hell. Maybe I'll go put this in the Hell thread.
  4. Sad to see him go. He's world class.
  5. Great battle. Rich usually always won cuz he's a born showboat. There's a great battle clip from the Johnny Carson show between Rich and the Carson house band drummer, I forget his name, shame on me, because he was pretty famous. Great battle, but Rich destroyed the guy.

    Footwear

I had to return those Vans I ordered cuz they were too narrow I've been looking at some Gola trainers, are they any good? Some of them look nice, but verging slightly into Hipster territory, so I need to tread lightly...
  7. At least you have people to talk to about Villa. If I say "Aston Villa" to someone around here, they will think it's a bottle of wine.
  8. why do people do this? Why do you want to create a "false reality" (no idea what to call it) of whats likely going to happen. It just creates unrealistic/illogical viewpoints. Its pretty clear Arsenal were far far more likely going to beat us so why be like "see what we are made of, we gonna beat them"? Just sounds like you made yourself depressed by having illogical POV of whats going to happen. Makes no sense to me at all. Sounds like he was just hyped up for the game and was thinking if Villa played at their best, we could win.
  9. This regular bar customer I have at my new job is doing my head in. He's Mr. Big Shot in a very small town, originally from Miami and he loves Maine, so he's buying up property left and right. Any chance he gets he'll remind you of how many restaurants he's owned, that his good friend is the GM of the Miami Dolphins, he's got a fancy motorcycle, he bought some local guy a used truck (a very generous thing, but the type of thing you shouldn't go around touting, IMO). And you can't tell him a thing. He knows it already, you know the type. I left Boston to get away from pretentious words removed like him, god dammit.
  10. you could, and your post suggests you'd reluctantly pick lerner its a totally anonymous poll bro i won't tell
  11. It's still possible, if one of the indicted has the goods on him and turns witness. I'd drink SIX Bud Light Limes if that happened.
  12. Loved the scene where Snow looks up at the mounted white walkers atop the cliff. Scary image.
  13. i hate sunday nights too. Erm...I had the same Foo Fighters convo at work last night. Spooky.
  14. The state of Maine just passed a law that allows residents to carry concealed handguns without a permit. More proof that this state belongs somewhere south of Virginia. Total embarrassment. It was pushed through very discretely, so my hope is that when more and more people are aware of it, the impetus will exist to put it to a voter referendum in November.
  15. Would you prefer Lerner, Fox and Sherwood to remain at the club, or would you prefer new ownership and the probability that Fox and Sherwood get axed?

    Carles Gil

The death knell for me was him not making the 18 for the Burnley game. If he can't even be involved against a team already relegated then he has no future here. First black mark against the manager for me, I think he's got this one wrong and will have to sign a really good playmaker replacement to make up for this and do you really think that's likely with our budget? Careful Chris, you might get labelled a moaning doom and gloom merchant.
  17. It was less than a week ago that Lerner said he would have nothing to do with the club from now on. He's made a lot of promising statements over the years, usually via his Marine Mouthpiece...I'll believe it when it happens.

    Carles Gil

I asked before. Could you let us know what's happened? Seems Gil was benched.
  19. The usual ***** is what makes epic scenes like that so epic. If every episode had a 25 minute battle scene, it would get stale pretty quickly. Still, fantastic sequence that was. But seeing whatsername lapping up water from the dungeon floor was almost as enjoyable! Curious to see what Ramsey and "20 good men" are going to get up to against Stannis' army.
  20. Has it been confirmed that he told certain players to find new clubs after the game in the dressing room?
  21. My instinct tells me Lerner wants to stick around. He's having fun with his toys in the sandbox again. He may be drumming up interest from silent investors to help finance what he can't on his own. More money will be available from now on, because I think he now fully understands what relegation entails. Fox and Sherwood stay on as well. North Stand project is put on hold. Stadium naming rights is a distinct possibility, and Fox will spin it in his Foxy way. If Benteke can be convinced of the club's ambition, he might choose to stay, but he may be just ready to turn the page on Villa, and I can't blame him. We better get top dollar for him, and we better shop him to every interested non-Premier League club first. Mid table security, a decent cup run and better football next season will be a massive relief after this complete nightmare the last 4 years. Then we can really start rebuilding.
  22. My genius criteria is somewhat more stringent. Yes, he did a fantastic job getting a team of players who should've been playing better to play better. We finished in 17th place, losing three on the trot, all in an ugly fashion. He hasn't bought any new players, and hasn't managed the club for more than four months. He's made some baffling team selections and tactical decisions that even his most ardent admirers must have some misgivings about. I like Sherwood, and I think he has earned the right to continue on as manager. I'm just not convinced he's a genius, or miracle worker or any of those lofty descriptions. Not yet, anyway.

    Losers

Lambert with his framed 6-1 win over Sunderland headline in his office has to be the most small time, used-to-losing thing I've heard of in my 20 years of following Aston Villa. Embarrassing. That and Lerner's letter from SAF that he tucked away in a safety deposit box. CRIIIIIINGE
  24. What a strange thing to moan about. I'd only be moaning about it if it came to pass. Not quite a moan, not yet. Concern and moaning are quite different things.
