  1. I predict we put up 60 points tonight
  2. John Gregory has retweeted some tweets critical of Wilkins' behavior. Good to see that. Makes me wish we had some true Villans in the dugout and not these impostors.
  3. do we have nay decent players? We have been in relegation battles for 6 years now as for attendances they arent exactly bringing out the Sold Out signs Grealish Gil Adama Gana Richards Amavi I think these 6 represent true quality. And if a bit more consistent, You could add another 4 or 5 to that list. We have plenty of decent players and even some damn good ones, it's just that the manager doesn't know what he's doing. As for attendances, my point stands. They will plummet from what they are now.
  4. I understand the sentiment, but I can't get my head around it, personally. Too depressing. We'd lose every decent player we have, attendance would plummet, and it would be a long slog back. Even if we got promoted straight away, we'd still probably be shit. And then we'd go through the relegation dance all over again. As interesting as playing in a lower division might seem to some...for me it's a nightmare.
  5. Yeah, but did your assistant manager laugh and hug the opposition's manager while you were losing?
  6. Yeah, but this is our worst start to a season in what, almost 30 years? And so much more is at stake nowadays with TV money. Relegation is worse than it ever was for a club like Villa.
  7. If he's not sacked by Monday, he'll have the Swansea match to try and save himself.
  8. It could also potentially send us into a complete and utter tailspin for years
  9. The Moneyball approach only works if your scouting system is up to snuff, in either sport. And even then, in baseball, it's an approach typically only really used by ball clubs with small payrolls as a means to stay competitive, and maybe hit stride at the right time and win the title. The major difference being is if it fails in football, you're relegated. So in football, playing Moneyball, is a very dangerous roll of the dice.
  10. I loved his act of "sportsmanship" earlier What are you referring to, I might have missed it
  11. I have my concerns about Moyes too, but we need a steady hand to guide us out of the mire, and I think he's a good enough manager to do it. We need a rescue job, and if we grind out points ugly, so be it. We can worry about positive, flowing football next year, IMO.
  12. FWIW, The Mirror says Moyes wants the Villa job d'oh, beat to the punch
  13. I'd be happy with a draw between Newcastle and Norwich How pathetic it is to have a keen interest in bottom of the table results in OCTOBER.
  14. It conveys a negative message to the players. Almost as if he's saying we're a **** joke. Which we are ATM, but we don't need our management team perpetuating the idea. Dick.
  15. You Mets fans staying up for this? Or are you both still on this side of the world?
  16. I'm on an island on the Maine coast right now. Windy as ****, but still some sunshine. Took my soccer (Sorry Tony) ball to a field by the ocean and just had a solo kick about. Real choppy surf, and not a boat in sight. I was dribbling up and down a sloping hill, smashing the ball on the incline. Finished my little session with a sprint with the ball and then an Adama-like burst of pace at the very end to really get my heart rate up. /endorphin high
  17. It's an argument best put to rest, unless people like going in circles
  18. The ref did do a lot to make people hate his performance.
