  1. It's the clearing in the woods thread, accessible to people who donate to VillaTalk
  2. The "Five Year Plan" was essentially hire O'Neill and hope that he got us into the Champions League money. No Plan B. Any business person, be they a corporate executive or kebab stand operator, needs to have a contingency plan when things don't go as hoped. Lerner is no businessman, he's a hobbyist.
  3. I can't find the MON thread...eh, better off w/o it!!!! And I won't prolong this OT tangent...
  4. Jonah, I've moved my reply to the MON thread
  5. He can be faulted, and should be, but ultimately, you are right, it's down to Lerner and I've never disputed that. My point is MON should have been much smarter. I think most people would agree that if he got it right, we'd not be where we are now. But he got it wrong, very wrong ultimately, and when Lerner finally tightened up, he threw a tantrum and walked, which in and of itself did enormous damage.
  6. Verging on criminal negligence that he hasn't got a game at this point
  7. Of course Ted Ginn Jr. is having the game of his life today...I'm done
  8. As for MON to take more blame than the other managers, clearly yes. MON was the only one of them who was given respectable money to spend and he completely **** things up by buying crap players on insane wages, and subsequently put the club in a hole it's still digging out from. The rest of the managers just tried to tread water. Had MON spent wisely with an eye to the future, we might be in the Champions League right now. **** Martin O'Neill
  9. That said, we're giving MON a good kicking in the Lerner thread
  10. Drifting OT here, but had O'Neill actually RESPECTED Aston Villa Football Club, we might not be in the shit we're in now. He was more concerned with personal glory and short term success than building a foundation. He's no Brian Clough. Far from it, actually. In all honesty, I have more contempt for O'Neill than Lerner, because O'Neill should have known better... Lerner was just a dumb American looking for a hobby.
  11. Mets are closest to glory you have...I'd cream my pants if we had your rotation
  12. If you think back on the MON appointment, what was it really based on? Minor **** Leicester hype, that's IT. We'd have been better off with any of the Spurs managers over that time, and a half dozen other guys. O'Neill is the biggest fraud in Premier League management history, IMO.
  13. Agree with all of that except O'Neill, who not only bought shit players on insane fees and wages, he let other players walk who we'd piss ourselves to have back today. Lerner is the root, O'Neill is a big old branch. The rest of them get a pass, as inept as they were in their own ways, they were just using what they were given. As crazy as it sounds now...Alex McLeish wasn't as bad as he's been made out to be...he was just a lackey.
  14. IIRC, Stride wanted out. i'd welcome him back in a heartbeat, but I think he was done, and isn't in football anymore.
  15. A draw would be massive, but the reality is we will get played off the pitch
  16. Pitching and defense win championships. The Mets will contend again, your pitching is arguably the best in baseball. If the Cubs add pitching, I'd be concerned, but you have the spine of a club that will make the playoffs again and again, and anything can happen once you're in. Chin up, fella, Mets are a good **** team right now.
  17. Murphy is a journeyman, I wouldn't get too hung up on him at all
  18. Kurt, come visit Boston, I'll take you to a game at Fenway, maybe Levi will make an appearance. Citi Field has NOTHING on the Mecca
