The city of my forebears. Well, some of them anyway. I've only made it to Rome and then southeast by train to Brindisi to catch the boat to Greece. But the place in Italy I really want to see the most is Genoa. It's not going to be overrun with tourists either, which is good. Ligurian culture is distinct from other regions of Italy, and I think it seems like a really interesting place. Once the greatest port in the world....Who knows, maybe I'll go find a relative to bother Keep us updated, Mantis!

I can't wait until Lerner is finally gone and all the dirt comes out on him, beyond the crimes we already know he's committed. He might be a bit more diabolical than we thought though. He seems to be able to charm people at first, from Martin O'Neill to Mervyn King and everyone in between. But then everyone seems to cop on fairly quickly that he's a complete idiot. #worsethanellis

Sad that the most fun we've gotten out the club for a while now is speculating about everything that happens OFF the field. Just give us a decent owner and a decent manager to manage decent players so we can gain promotion and chip away at that division too. I have no idea if this "sale" is legit, I'm inclined to think it's bullshit, just cuz. But I hope I'm wrong. P.S. I don't want another "5 Year Plan", I want a new Villa philosophy that champions youth development, winning and integrity, and can last 500 years.

But they aren't going well. And the people are pissed, as you say. And as they should be. Brazil has claims on a staggering amount of mineral wealth and they should be doing much better, but their politicians are robbing them without shame. Nobody has faith in the system and it's all a tinderbox waiting to be triggered. I just hope if there is a power vacuum, nobody with a hat on declares himself president.

Yeah, that's why I said the article is speculative in many ways. They never prove the US link, and it's a far left blog, but it provided some basic truths that help explain the issues at hand. As to Tony's post- I have a feeling that the situation there is more precarious than normal (since they came out of dictatorship). What makes it all so fascinating is that nobody is clean. It's all just a free for all power grab death battle. Credit the Brazilians anyway, they lack pretense in this regard.

Yep, this is really cynical stuff from Lerner. Or maybe it's Krulak, I wouldn't be surprised if Randy isn't fully aware of what's going on right now. Imagine after ALL the bullshit over all these years and it's Krulak who ends up playing the Grim Reaper. Probably should've known it would come down to this. It was laughable from Day One, but tolerated only because the future WAS bright. But Krulak is not funny, cute, clever or remotely suited for the position he enjoys. **** it all to Hell.

Could it be true that Lerner is an actual idiot, like clinically? I mean, he looks like an idiot, and all he seems to do is destroy shit, so he's like a rich kid who never adjusted to adulthood and he's mesmerized by his own Scorched Earth reign of terror. He can buy big shiny things with daddy's money and when he becomes bored with the toy, he discards it. He is as close to being a true idiot as any other figure in sports management I've ever known, and I've known a good few. This guy takes the cake.
