But they weren't "edgy". They never were. But things started getting very glossy and commercialized (Sorry Tony) with the Brothers in Arms album, which was their chart topping triumph and made sure Knopfler never had to worry about anything financially. Which is probably why he quit the band pretty much right after their touring windfall. He was never a real pop star, and I like that about him. But the dude is a giant on the guitar. Arguably the best British rock guitarist of all time.
Exciting and moving final sequence, but even that sequence was a little corny. The dialogue was noticeably diminished in quality, and almost all the scenes were too drawn out. Only the Baelish scene and some of the Ironborn stuff was up to standard, IMO. Even the Ironborn scene was ridiculous in how Theon and his sister managed to steal that fleet of ships without being noticed. Very disappointed with the episode, the thing was almost slapstick at points. And the theatre sequence was WAY too long, and totally unnecessary if you think about it. Can't be too hard on the show though, it's been a great season so far. I hope that was just a fluke episode.
Ok, so I'm exactly a half hour into this episode, and for the first time ever I've paused it because it was so bad.
WTF was that?
I really hope this one turns around, cuz that was comically bad.
Sikh bikers riding to commemorate the anniversary of Lee Rigby's murder. Hopefully the ignorant racists will have taken note of this and understand that they aren't an enemy.
11 K's for Thor today. Harvey meanwhile got booed off the field his last start. Amazing collapse in form. I wonder if he's not fully healed, and if some of his efforts to pitch late last season has set him back?
I have a feeling you will enjoy a unique kind of status on here because of your insights, but please keep in mind, many of us are still learning about all kinds of things, including China, Chinese football, the business culture there, what to expect, etc. Couple that with the fact that as Villa fans, we've been burned by dodgy owners for years, so we are skeptical of anyone new.
I'm referring to the response to Mike, which didn't seem to take into account a key point in his post--what he called his own "cultural ignorance". There was nothing anti-Chinese in Mike's post.
