50 dead in another mass shooting here and it's like this shit is just another day here. Watch as this country implodes during the RNC in a convulsion of violence.
This country is ****.
I saw her play a private concert at the chateau of the legendary Fabrice Duvalier back in 1970. Marlon Brando was there, already planting the seeds for his turn in "Last Tango in Paris". Of course Gore Vidal was there, driving everyone insane. I remember a delightful Chateaux de Marmont '37 was greedily consumed by the caseload! I had just helped spring three Algerian brothers from the penitentiary there in Lyon. (For the small concession of their family plot outside Algiers). For many years, I produced the finest quality goat's milk in all of northern Algeria...but something called "Disco" changed everything.
Putting it into a broader social context, I think the scenes in Marseilles reflect the tension around Europe right now, with Russia-Ukraine, terrorism, economic anxiety, Brexit, refugees...things are really **** up right now and tribal mob violence is the result. We better hope it's not war at some point in the near future.
Total mayhem, really. These scenes are turning into something people will remember for a long time.
Some of the Russian assaults were very cynical. The dudes in black definitely had a game plan, very sinister. **** those guys.
Northern Ireland fans tangled up with locals in Nice as well, apparently.
What's next...
Blast from the past. I think Goose was treated a bit harshly by some fans towards the end. Look at the donkeys who played in front of him, FFS.
He didn't do himself any favors with the Lescott incident, but that was a one-off in terms of dumb petulance, as far as I know. He loved playing for Villa, and it saddens me that it all went so sour at the end. People were saying he was the best Villa keeper since Bosnich for a while there. And he WAS good. And based on last night, he still is a quality goalkeeper, he just needs 3 or 4 defenders in front of him who give a shit.
