  1. And I like that, but the internet being what it is, it's hard to imagine a positive outcome from it all. As soon as we falter, and we will at some pint, things will get ugly. It's probably better if he just issued the occasional press brief and left the Tweeting alone.
  2. He's a 38 year old nerd who likes football and has a lot of money. I think his heart is in the right place, but I fear that he's a bit naive, just in terms of his social media presence. I think eventually some one will tell him to reel it in...which is kind of sad, because this kind of direct (online) access is unusual.
  3. Nice one. I had a friend growing up, he was Greek. He 'd have Greek New Year's at his house, with a whole lamb on the spit, everyone locking arms ina circle and dancing to old Greek tunes. Good times.
  4. Huge relief. I think he can score 18-20 goals this season, he's Premier League quality.
  5. Yeah, you might as well, I'm not sure I'm gonna partake this year.
  6. Yer sun's a fecking smackheed, anef that's nae yer fault, I dunno what ess!
  7. That's a somewhat misleading oversimplification of what I said. Yes it is. That's why I question whether repetitively throwing money in the form of war weaponry at the problem abroad rather than in the form of job training, education, mental health care and decent housing at home is ultimately the best way forward. I'm not suggesting the coalition evacuate the Middle East any time soon, but as long as were are there, there will be war, and an excuse for any disillusioned asshole or mentally ill maniac to blow himself up in a crowd of innocent people. There is a cause and effect and it runs both ways. If our behavior is shaped by what they do (and it is), then surely their behavior can be shaped by us as well. (and it is). At what point do we throw a wrench in the war machine and add a new tactic to the fight? A lot of people seem to think this is an intractable problem, and it is, if we exclusively keep on this path. I'm suggesting we look for alternatives to augment and ultimately replace our current "fight fire with fire" approach.
  8. So many of these terrorists and ISIS members are known to be lapsed Muslims, not having been particularly strident in their religious views prior to "signing up". I think the root of so much of this violence is the result of a failed assimilation scheme on the part of these European countries, and to a lesser extent, the United States. Open borders is all well and good (maybe), but what's the **** plan after? In France, they get dumped in ghettoes and that's it. Waving the Jihad flag is an easy out for the broke, lonely and desperate. Providing people with an economic foothold instead of carpet bombing Syrian villages seems to me to be the best long term strategy.
  9. I was shooting like Paul **** Newman, by the way
  10. Really excited for Trainspotting 2. The only way it would get made is if the original cast and crew were all involved, so it bodes well. Normally I'd call it a desperate money grab, but I think they're doing this out of love. I'm McGregor's age, and was up to some similar activities at the time, so the movie was like THE movie of my 20's. Can't wait for this one!
  11. Unconvincing player, doubt he'll make much of an impact with Everton
  12. Like hurry up and sign a striker already
  13. Smart move, I like the long term view Tony is taking.
