  1. Was thinking the same. But I admit I don't know much about him as a player.
  2. I'd have Benrahma as a backup option like they using him.
  3. We should be able to play right through the spine of their team if we get our patterns and passing in sync. If we can score early, they'll collapse mentally, in which case we could put 4 or 5 past them. McGinn needs to bounce back from a very passive performance on Friday. He'll be key.
  4. Bowen, Pacqueta, Kudus, Ward-Prowse, Benrahma...they are a few players and one managerial appointment away from being really good.
  5. Does Neville Chamberlain get a bad rap?
  6. Okay, so it was deemed his second yellow card and so he was sent off. Shocking officiating.
  7. Motivation needs to be tweaked and stoked and massaged from preseason to the last game of the campaign, and the coaching staff will use a previous bad result as a device to stoke motivation. Its fundamental to team management. In theory, Emery will have the players channel their anger and disappointment with VAR and the dropped points into resolution and a deeper commitment to throttle Man Utd.
  8. Solanke in galactic form at the moment.
  9. Just saw the Forest red card. Absolutely disgusting. And they battled bravely only to lose it in stoppage time. Players, fans and Nuno all raped by what must be the worst officiating in top flight European football.
  10. Brighton v Spurs Arsenal V West Ham on Thursday... I think Brighton and West Ham can also get a decent result for us. West Ham are a solid team, imagine what a better manager could do for them.
  11. Everton at home to Man City on Wednesday...I think they can get a result.
  12. It's a fine result, but as @briny_ear correctly deduced, it's also annoying AF. Would've been a sweet, sweet Christmas. I hope the entire team will use what they are also hopefully feeling about today's result as motivation to not let other massive opportunities slip away. The margins are too narrow.
  13. Predictable and painful result at An field. Grrrrrr
  14. Pro move to match his sweater with the trim of his shoes. This alone suggests that he's ready.
  15. This new rule change is interesting. Will we have a designated player to shove opposition players from behind whilst inside the penalty area?
  16. Haven't seen this spelling of Buendia before, very interesting H inclusion..
  17. It does if Lenglet and Chambers are outward bound.
  18. He's definitely building a head of steam now. I wonder if Emery starts him on Tuesday..
  19. Okay, I'm not going to harp on the egregious and infuriating VAR calls and Taylor. I'm not going to harp on the substandard team play considering the monumental opportunity to ascend to the top of the league and possibly stay there for a while. I'd rather try to focus on the positives, which are many. We showed determination and character to score the equalizer. It was a dazzling looking goal by Zaniolo. And if anyone was to score against Villa this year, I'm glad it was Archer. I'm happy for him. We are still in an incredible position entering the new year/transfer window. But with the injuries and suspensions, we aren't as good, obviously. We badly missed YT tonight. We needed him to thread the needle. We could've even used Phil Coutinho tonight, honestly. The owners might understand that we need a couple of impact signings to help us win silverware this spring. The game will provide Emery with more information to act on, and that's bad for the rest of the division. We need to figure out how to play against piss poor sides that turtle it like Sheffield Utd did. I hope the players take some lessons from this game and use them for Man Utd and beyond. The games are not going to get easier, in fact, just the opposite.
  20. I thought there was plenty of slick passing but they didn't quite come off or got intercepted. Wasn't our day, in many ways.
  21. I'm American, and still learning the soccer rules. Had no idea you can shove a striker from behind inside the penalty-zone. Those guys might need to start wearing shoulder pads!
  22. Sheffield United are a stupid, stupid club who don't belong in the top flight.
  23. Wilder thanking Taylor for the thoughtful Christmas presents.
