  1. The CIA and FBI have both stated that Russia hacked the DNC and have conducted espionage out of compounds on US soil, very serious crimes against a sovereign state. The fact that Trump is publicly refuting US intelligence findings and tweeting encouraging statements to Putin is absolutely "unpresidented", to use Trump's own spelling. (He's like, a smart guy, you know). So we have an incoming president who is acquiescing to and publicly supporting an enemy state that has just committed the most egregious political cyber attack ever conducted against the United States. Mind blowing, and deeply troubling. I'm all for improving relations with Russia, but the way Trump is going about it is nothing short of scandalous, and very likely criminal.
  2. Aston Villa, qu'est-ce que c'est Fa-fa-fa-fafafafa-fa-fa better- run-run-run, run-run run away Oh -oh-oh-OOH, yayayayayayaya! I'll get my coat
  3. Unfortunately, the Democrats have no balls, and won't take this opportunity to investigate what is clearly a troublesome situation.
  4. Trump is walking a tightrope right now, getting perilously close to treason territory.
  5. I just got over a 3 week long cold...I hope you don't get what I had!
  6. Passing the buck is too easy...if you want, we can talk about all the horrible injustices perpetrated by the USA, including its involvement in Caribbean political affairs, but just accept the plain facts that Britain's involvement is just as egregious if not more so when viewed in an historical context.
  7. I think "reparations" is a bit of a hot button term that obscures the kind of basic measures that could've been taken to address the needs of former slaves who suddenly had to craft a functional government out of the ruins of 400 years of total exploitation. As a Commonwealth nation, Jamaica, in my opinion, should have received much more guidance, investment and true partnership than what was offered after 1962 or whenever they achieved independence. The fruits of the British Empire were channeled straight back to England, and Jamaica was not immune to this scheme. It's wealth ultimately never benefitted the Jamaican people, but rather the financiers and industry moguls back in England. Had Britain invested more basic good will and support for it's former gold mine, Jamaica would be in a much better situation than it is now.
  8. I suppose that's your take on it. I happen to think that on an ethical level, the European powers generally fell well short of the mark in terms of lifting these resource-rich islands out of a system of serfdom that had been perpetuated to varying degrees by the colonists for 400 years. The Duvalier regime is a prime example of the kind of systemic underdevelopment and repression that has funneled vast wealth into the Swiss bank accounts of light skinned rulers at the expense of the destitute populace. The legacy of racism still permeates the entire Caribbean region, and if the old colonial powers had any shame, they'd seek to make amends.
  9. It's a fairly typical case study of New World plunder and subjugation, whereby the indigenous population is all but completely wiped out, replaced by African slave labor, and more or less ignored the rest of the way. Jamaican sugar and coffee exports lined the pockets of the British, and when independence came, the political vacuum created rampant discord, corruption, social insecurity and violence, all of which they are still grappling with. France abandoned Haiti, Spain abandoned the DR and Cuba, The Netherlands abandoned Aruba, Britain abandoned Jamaica, etc.
  10. The knowledge that Villa aren't being run by a bunch of clueless imposters...a bright future is actually a possible goal, not just a marketing slogan.
  11. I hate the ones that say something like "You'll never believe what the members of Take That look like now!" Or, "Type in your name...wait 12 seconds.. and prepare to have your mind blown!" There are some real bottom feeders out there.
  12. The Cuban Revolution accomplished some good things, but the cult of personality decimated any potential that they had post-Batista. If any country has a moral obligation to Haiti, it's France. Jamaica-UK, Aruba-Netherlands, etc. All the colonial powers have shamefully abandoned their former subjects.
  13. They and their families all have "72 hours" to GTFO...this marks a real low point, at least since I was a kid in the 70's...but have no fear, Trump is coming and we'll all be friends again.
  14. He's an imposing player, but he's dirty. Standard Leeds player then...
  15. That said, I haven't been too impressed by any other side in this division either. It's as bad as MLS.
  16. We're a good four new players away from gaining promotion. We just aren't that good a side as things stand.
  17. Mine are pretty standard- Go to the gym more, drink less, be more social, be more productive. Oh yeah, and get a job!
  18. Based on that performance, I'd take the 25m and run
  19. We need 4 new signings if we plan on promotion
