    Young English player who everyone rates highly. I'd say 45m is the highest they might go. And yeah, it would instantly make Villa a contender for Europe. Worth it, IMO.

    If he stays on condition that we stack the side with more talent, we are in a dizzying situation. It would mean we will wrap up more major signings this summer. If he goes to City, we will have a huge windfall on which to sign three top players. Either way, the future looks really good. Naturally, I'd want him to stay and hope he does. It's exciting watching a Villa player we saw as a youth player morphing into a generational England football icon. He is making Aston Villa world famous again.

    And they've done it without fanfare and grand declarations. Total professionals. And as an American, I'm really happy that Edens hadn't embarrassed us like Henry, Kroenke and Glazers and he's not a muppet like Lerner.

    I really wanted to like Ted Lasso. I liked the original NBC promo bits. I like the concept. But the show itself is disjointed and poorly executed. The writing is good in spots, but lacking in imagination in others, IMO. They try to make it check too many boxes instead of focusing on the funny. Missed opportunity.

    At the very least, we are unsettling Arsenal and driving up the price for their player. It's a win-win for Villa. At the very least we weaken the financial position of a direct competitor in the league. IMO, we are now on stronger footing than Arsenal.

    And he didn't really have a plan, as evidenced by the slapdash way he recruited mediocre, overpriced players that didn't blend together. The Moscow capitulation was typical O'Neill. Trying hard to be clever but failing hard. He was in some ways, the worst best manager we could have found at the time. A net loss for the club in retrospect.

    50m for a player who is not quite the essential piece of the puzzle he was before is nothing to scoff at. I'd trust Lange and Co to spend the money wisely.

    We are in a stronger recruitment position this summer than last, so clearly Smith and Lange believe Buendia is the superior player, and that's good enough for me. Looking forward to the first Norwich game.
