  1. They might be trying to send a last minute message to Jack.
  2. I think that is a 50/50 scenario. He may have been signed so early *because* they expected Jack to go.
  3. Spare a thought for Mr. Grealish himself for a minute. He will be under immense pressure to make this decision and he will be well aware of it's ramifications. Of course, whatever he decides, he will be rich and famous and still kicking a ball for a living. But in a strictly football context, he is in an absolute crucible at the moment.
  4. Only emotionally stunted weirdos would hate Jack Grealish for leaving Villa a month away from his 26th birthday. He's a great player, a likeable guy and he's shown admirable commitment to the club up to this stage and helped get the club re-established in the Premier League. If we sell him we will have the biggest windfall in club history to reinvest. If he goes, (and I'm not sure he will), I will hope he does well for them, just not against us.
  5. I was thinking the same. Unlikely, but certainly possible. He has freedom at Villa, a blank canvas every fresh 90 minutes. He's the focal point, the player everything is built around, and the captain. DeBruyne is that guy ay City, instantly relegating Jack to lesser status and importance, with less of the ball and less total playing time. It could effect his performances, and he will be under much more pressure to deliver.
  6. They have Seager at SS, wonder why they went for Turner. How will that work out?
  7. Bailey, Alvarez and JWP would soften the blow.
  8. The fact that we've made a bid suggests Jack will be sold is my interpretation.
  9. Some of these posts suggesting Grealish is just another mercenary will not age well at all once he's signed improved terms with Villa.
  10. If we were planning on Signing 2-3 players in addition to keeping Jack, we would then maybe be looking at signing 4-5 players if we sell. So 4-5 players at an average of 45m each...yeah, I'd feel pretty good about the upcoming season, even if it took a while to bed them all in. Kenneth gif.
  11. This. He more than did his part to help stabilize the club. He's entering his prime and if he goes to City he will be playing in the Champions League straight away against the best players in the world. He's earned the right. If he goes, I will follow his progress with interest and hope he does well. Maybe after 4-5 years he returns to Villa.
  12. I disagree. We broke the club transfer record by beating Arsenal to Buendia, we almost prised away ESR from them, we've been linked to Alvarez, Bailey, JWP, and a few other very good players. We've been at the center of things for most of the window. I for one love it. And we still have a chance to retain our talisman!
  13. Do you think other Villa players will be pleading with Jack to stay or will they just stay out of it?
  14. I'd expect Bailey and Alvarez to be announced straight away and maybe 1-2 more after that.
  15. 50m light. If Coutinho went for 140m 2-3 years ago, Jack is worth at a minimum 150m.
  16. That Fulham shirt is a disaster.
  17. Just as I suspected. I presume these are courtesy talks as opposed to serious negotiations. If Villa get a staggering offer then maybe Villa sells Grealish even if he prefers to stay. Villa are in the driver's seat.
  18. His ancestral connection to the club, his professed and proven dedication to the club, and the ambition of the club. It's a hunch rooted in evidence.
