It's almost November and we have yet to see a fully fit Villa squad. Probably won't happen this weekend either.
Injuries and lack of fitness seems to have become a default status for the club over the last few years.
Do we need new personnel in this department?
A coronation in in the 2020s will look so much different than 1950, or whenever Liz got the nod. People are so much more cynical now, and Chuck has never been adored by anyone I don't think. No longer an empire,, either.. Toss in Covid 19, and the event will probably look very trimmed down in comparison.
Every time I see him play with City, it's the same sequence. He collects the ball out wide, drags it to his left then shifts back inside and passes it. 100m for that on repeat seems a colossal waste, for club and player alike.
Reading his quote about all the insults and abuse he took makes me sad. He's human. Yes, he's overpaid and outdated but he usually worked under fairly tight finances but still managed several promotions and survivals. Nobody deserves that degree of personal abuse for just doing their job, even if they are well compensated.
We're so free here. You guys don't know complete liberty until your citizenry is awash in high powered firearms. Some states are so free, we don't even need training to use these weapons!
White Lotus and Succession are sort of kindred shows. I'm liking this trend of zeitgeisty storytelling with really incisive writing and high end production value.
I'm a big proponent of keeping traditional ground names. Yes, naming your ground NRGnet.com Stadium or whatever puts cash in the coffers, but at what cost? IMO, you risk damaging the brand and mystique of the club when you jettison the old name for some ridiculous corporate wank name. Keep the name Villa Park and get creative with other angles.
