I finally watched Trainspotting 2. T1 was a film that I really connected with being the same age as the cast and also leading a reckless lifestyle at the time. On my all time list and close to the top. So I was worried T2 would ruin the legacy of the original. It's not a great movie but it's sort of just a tribute film to the original, and it's effective in that specific way. Ultimately they probably should have just left it alone but they didn't ruin everything either. 6.3/10.

I saw Dune. Very impressive. There's been nothing like it before. It doesn't spoon feed the audience. You have to suss things out yourself. The pacing, the scale, the sound, the visuals all very sophisticated and state of the art. The only weakness was some of the dialogue. But nobody watches sci fi films for the dialogue. It is a chilling and humorless experience, but you can't look away. Watch it in a IMAX if you can. Bring on volume 2!
