Happy for Dean. I'll be rooting for Norwich when they aren't playing Villa. Incredible that he's right back into a PL job without missing a single weekend of action! Don't think this has ever happened. Probably won't keep them up, but he can definitely get them promoted again. Glad VP can give him a proper show of appreciation when we play them.

As good a first interview as we could expect or hope for. Measured answers, steady demeanor. He won't suffer pissy attitudes and half assed efforts or big sensitive egos. Can't wait for the weekend!

I normally wouldn't watch a show like Dexter but I binged it with my dad when he was staying with me and I enjoyed it. The last season was poor though.

Rewatching Foyles War. Yes, its a bit hokey, but it's engrossing. The mysteries are so well written and clever. And the wartime backdrop with historically accurate events makes it even better. Great show.

Looking back at being a fan of English football in the USA in the 90s. It wasn't easy. Waking up as early as 6am to drive to one of the few bars in Boston that had a satellite feed. Checking week old league tables by going to one of the few international news stands to buy a red top tabloid. The thrill of getting the latest Goal magazine in the mail. The commeraderie amongst enthusiasts in the soccer bars. An abridged form of these rituals still exists, but not entirely. The romance of the pre internet era is gone forever. It's great to not even have to get out of bed to watch a live Villa match and discuss it in real time. But I do miss those days. I think because you had to work harder at pursuing your interest, the payoff was more gratifying. I've since tossed my Goal magazines. They just weighed me down over the years moving apartments. But they are still with me, stacked neatly in a corner of my memory.

First the Grealish/Southgate drama, then the Grealish-City saga, now the Smith/Gerrard developments...I've never seen Villa dominate the headlines like this.

People say it was the totality of results in 2021, but for me it was the 5 losses at the end that sealed it. The collapse v Wolves in front of Edens and then 4 straight clueless performances doomed him. If he snuck one win in there, he'd still be Villa manager, IMO.

I was watching the USA- Mexico game last night. It was in Cincinnati. The entire crowd was standing the whole game. I love it when that happensxand would love to see that intensity at VP. It would rattle opposition players.

Massively talented. Not a flashy player, but he was never about guitar heroism. But it's his singing voice that for me, makes him so good. Pure soul.

Scruffy first half. 0-0. Edit: Great 2nd half for USA 2-0. Dominance over Mexico continues. We've got some good young players. Pretty raw, but the future looks good.
