Rewatched Dunkirk and Dune.
Both state of the art, exquisite films. Sound, set design, photography. The assured editing. The color pallettes. The feels.
What a war movie and a space movie should be.
Simon Jordan. Makes salient points, seems fairly sensible. But there is just something about his delivery, his manner that I find off putting.
He is a bit smug and his voice sounds like he thinks he's better than everyone.
@chrisp65lays it out nicely. The speculators and parasites are the real villain. The other "gentrifiers" are more visible and get a bad rap, even though some it is well earned.
But cities evolve constantly. The USA is littered with ghost towns that could have used some gentrification.
Poor Anwar. I think he'd be happier starting every week for a team like Forest, actually. A big Championship side.
Either that or a move to Italy or back to Netherlands.
The "us against the world" mentality there is dangerous. They think they are a glorious nation and a superior culture that deserves to be revered, respected and feared. And they have a massive chip on their shoulder that manifests in barbarism.
If this turns into open genocide, which is looking more likely if not already happening, the West will need to do something more than just deliver weaponry and provide intelligence.
Negro was still used in the USA as recently as the 1970s. It's still used in Latin America as a "familiar" term.
But in contemporary times, outside Latin America, it's akin to "colored", so pretty offensive.
I think signing Suarez would be regressive and costly. It would run counter to stated intent. We need younger players with sell on value.
The only way I'd be on board with Suarez is if it's a one year deal on modest wages in an attempt to crash Europe in 2023.
That nuance exists, so IMO it takes some of the sting out of it. But he still shouldn't have said it because he doesn't play for Penarol or whoever anymore. Racial sensitivity is a different beast in Europe.
I'm sort of a recluse by nature. But I've become convinced that one of the best ways to help with depression or social anxiety is to stay around people. Keep yourself engaged with goings on. Keep plugged in to a group or more. Keep busy with a regular routine. Opportunities unlock and might lead to really positive things. You'll have less time to worry about the what ifs. Less time to ruminate on past traumas or whatever weighs you down.
