Message for those in the 10 player league:
Don't be that guy who drafts all Aston Villa players. It's not a good strategy first and foremost and it makes the game less fun for everyone else. Cheers.
I love the Meatball but he'll be an anvil around the neck of Villa as long as he's keeping better players out of the starting 11.
I hope it works but I doubt it will and when we're sputtering around 14th place in late October the season will already be lost.
A reminder to those who are signed up that the draft is next Monday.
Please attend the draft and please stay active all season to make things fair and competitive for all.
I'm looking forward to dominating the league.
Ok guys...I'm making a tough call here to keep the league locked at 10, which was the original agreed number.
Someone else should start a second league and promote the **** out of it. Try to get another 10.
We can combine the top 5 from each league next year to form a League 1/League 2.
We really risk alienating Buendia by continually rewarding his stellar play with bench time.
He's handled it gracefully so far but he's proud and he's good. And if he's yo-yoed around again this season he'll probably look for a move to a team that will play him as a starter.
The club is more invested in Watkins. It's more important that he's given the opportunity to seize the job, increase his production and increase his sell-on value. Ings has inherently less sell-on value. So I say give it to Ollie until he either finally becomes the goal grabber we need him to be, or until he's clearly not able to put it all together.
I can't recall the captaincy ever being intensely discussed like this.
I think it's a function of not only the increased interest in Villa, but also the high stakes in play now that we are back in the mix, relevant again and being properly backed by ownership.
Expectations are sky high. It's dizzying up here!
Handling this like the total pro that he is. His tweet was classy and strategic to get out in front of it and squash any controversy (as best he could).
I'm hoping that between his no longer being captain and Carlos being the top CB, he can enjoy himself more and as a result, improve his play.
It'll be interesting to see how he handles this.
His output is typically great one game, decent the next and then shite the third game.
He needs to use this to propel himself and get more consistent.
