Starting Konsa ahead of Mings ( as well as Chambers) is baffling. Konsa is just back early from a significant injury and is (you'd think) behind the other players in terms of fitness and match sharpness. This is shabby treatment of Tyrone and it leaves a bitter taste. And it makes me worry that he's driving him out of the club entirely. It all seems like needless, self inflicted drama to sour the mood right before the season. Piss poor from Gerrard!

Strange that it feels like a total calamity after just one game but I totally understand why. There's a confluence of things that suggest the manager is over his head and bottling it. And the performance today was embarrassing.

The collective body language looked weird and tired and confused. Not a good early indicator.

He's on a worse run than Smith was when he was sacked. But he will be given a longer leash. I hope he figures it out quick. If we still look like this in 6 weeks and are dropping more points to worse teams, he should be sacked. But he will probably get until mid October. If we still look lost, I hope Pochettino is the guy.
