Starting Konsa ahead of Mings ( as well as Chambers) is baffling.
Konsa is just back early from a significant injury and is (you'd think) behind the other players in terms of fitness and match sharpness.
This is shabby treatment of Tyrone and it leaves a bitter taste. And it makes me worry that he's driving him out of the club entirely.
It all seems like needless, self inflicted drama to sour the mood right before the season.
Piss poor from Gerrard!
Strange that it feels like a total calamity after just one game but I totally understand why.
There's a confluence of things that suggest the manager is over his head and bottling it.
And the performance today was embarrassing.
There's a lot of doom and gloom right now, but a home opener might just be the salve we need.
There will be a different vibe and a new day and a reset.
But if we get another 96 minutes of McMeat-ball, things will get a bit ugly.
Not the first time he's looked sad and weak out there.
Clearly a cut above on his day, but oftentimes looks almost like he only plays football because he's supposed to.
He's on a worse run than Smith was when he was sacked.
But he will be given a longer leash.
I hope he figures it out quick.
If we still look like this in 6 weeks and are dropping more points to worse teams, he should be sacked.
But he will probably get until mid October.
If we still look lost, I hope Pochettino is the guy.
Damning. If viewed as a continuam, and if results continue to fall short, I may have to reassess my notion that his job is 100% secure.
Let's hope Purslow has Pochettino on speed dial.
Martinez fine
Carlos meh
Cash gash
Digne meh
Coutinho sad and weak
Ramsey vacant
McMeatball sloppy and slow
Kamara composed and switched on
Ings decent
Bailey bright start, faded in 2nd half
On this set up and display, expect more misery.
Gerrard digging himself a hole already
My McGinn fears have already manifested.
Gerrard has tied his own hands now with it. McGinn to be the first name on the team sheet come Hell or high water.
