Bizarre signing. Shades of Ings. Doesn't appear to address an obvious need. Adds an additional obstacle to playing time for our other forwards. Adds more wages to to bill.
It appears that his only applicable talent is convincing players to sign on the dotted line.
We could just send him around the world dressed in a furry lion suit and a set of pens. Sorted.
The problem here is that by sacking Gerrard, Purslow admits his mistake.
And he might not be ready to do that.
As noisy as all this clamoring is, I doubt Gerrard is close to the sack.
It will have to get much worse.
He wants to be the swaggering gaffer, he wants to be interviewed and speculated about for the Liverpool job. His ego is too big to accept his failings and move to a front office job. Would we even really want him there making big decisions?
This only ends one way.
It's fascinating to see the same problems from 10 years ago continue to hinder us.
Porous midfield. Scattershot defending. Terrible from set pieces both sides of the ball. No accountability. Weak mentality. Can't hold a lead. No identity. No discernable plan week to week. Repetitive coaching mistakes. Rigid team selection. Hoof ball. Low energy. Not enough size, strength or athleticism in the side.
Maddening.
Next game should be
Martinez
Cash. Chambers. Mings. Digne
Kamara. Luiz
Bailey. Buendia. Coutinho
Watkins
Last time Emi and Phil played together they tore a hole into Man City.
Worth trying again.
Meatball is an anvil around the neck of the club.
Or should I say Gerrard.
