I recently learned that a childhood friend of mine from down the street was found dead in a hotel room from an overdose. She didn't have the happiest home life and I think you can trace a line back to that. A neighborhood friend who I stay in touch with made it to the service but said not many people showed up. Just a really tragic sad thing. 51 years old.

I think we should sell McGinn in January. If he has a good World Cup, we can get a decent price for him. Maybe an Italian club would have interest. Then we invest that money in an upgrade.

'twill be interesting to see how this develops. It's pretty obvious that McGinn needs dropping, at the very least. Does the new manager give the armband back to Tyrone? Or does he give it to Martinez, or Young? It will be an early challenge for the incoming boss. Put on a platter by Gerrard.

After the glee of last night's good news, today I feel depressed. It seemed like we were poised to finally kick on and maybe challenge for Europe, if not this season, then next. But here we are, close to the drop zone in late October, no manager, ravaged by injuries and player confidence shattered. Fans bewildered and alienated. It's the same old story. Round and round we go, a boring joke.
