  1. I'm not losing any sleep over it. And he's entitled to act a clown. I like Emi a lot, he's a goofy nutter and a brilliant goalkeeper. We are lucky to have him. I just think he should be a little less disrespectful in victory and when making big plays. The optics aren't great and if he wasn't Villa, more people on here would agree with me. As for the Qataris and Infantino and Beckham deserving more criticism, yeah, obviously. They are completely separate from Emi's antics.
  2. Sportsmanship is a virtue. His pelvic thrusts with his award on stage post match disrespects his opponent and his hosts. I can excuse it in the heat of the moment, and enjoyed it the first time or two. But during the ceremony after the biggest match most of those players will ever play and in front of 1.5 billion viewers whilst representing Villa...it's entirely different and it's embarrassing.
  3. Bloom had Betts, Xander and Devers anchoring what should've been a dynasty. He's let Betts go for scraps and Xander for nothing. Unacceptable. Watch Devers go next.
  4. Brazilian journo from the top paper there...hmmm
  5. Not to put a damper on things but I can't escape the feeling that Emi's antics don't reflect particularly well on AVFC. I understand he's a bit eccentric and whatnot and I enjoy his goofiness..to a point. The thing with the glove and when he does that after a big save is getting old fast. It was funny the first time. But now it makes him look like an idiot.
  6. I disagree. He was a part of the early qualifying and the guy was forced to retire. As tough a break as they come. He was the one who carried Messi on his shoulders post match and I just think he was considered part of the squad still, if just spiritually. Terry wore a full kit with **** shinguards, nothing will ever be as cringe as that.
  7. Yeah, it's falling apart. But they have plenty of time. I can't wait, it's gonna be crazy here.
  8. Can I get lucky again vs Amnesiacs??
  9. Top 4 teams to the semifinals! I have a difficult decision or two to make for next week.
  10. Roberto Carlos, Maldini, Cafu...unsure of the other CB. Cannavaro is a good shout. And Lahm is as well for fullback...But Carlos and Maldini are automatic for me.
  11. Fitness and nutrition and all the modern science that players use can prolong careers. Ronaldo can play competitively in MLS until he's 45. Messi can play in 2028.
  12. Yeah he's got that locomotion thing where it's just impossible to defend against.
  13. Keep an eye on that young Bayern player. Looks dazzling.
  14. Controversial back 4.. And I'd wait until Pep is done before including him.
  15. Dangerous Play on HBO, about the 1989 Copa Libertadores and the intimidation, bribery attempts and death threats against referees by Colombian drug cartels. Overlaps a bit with The Two Escobars, which is essential viewing. Solid film, some great video footage of insane match atmosphere and action. Some good interviews. The reenactments detract from it a bit, I've never been a fan of them. But a good watch on the whole.
  16. I don't think I've seen a player quite as explosive as Mbappé. He is fast, fearless, and has exquisite technical ability. Fun to watch. Not particularly likeable but outside of Pelé, few of the best ever are. If he stays injury free he will be in the GOAT conversation eventually.
  17. Austin isn't a host city. SoFi Stadium in LA is unbelievable, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was there. But the romantic in me prefers the Azteca.
  18. I think the final is in Mexico city, so maybe a Sombrero and bottle of tequila?
  19. This is how I watched it. I love Andres.
