  1. I gave this a laugh emoji but the cry emoji was in the running.
  2. For me, and all the other American supporters of a promotion/relegation system in U.S. league soccer, the Wrexham phenomenon is a great big finger in the eye of no stakes, closed off, exhibition league MLS. Wrexham matches get a bigger TV audience here than MLS games. It's hilarious. The whole reason Wrexham is compelling for American audiences, and all of English football, and other European leagues is because the stakes can literally mean the life or death of the club, and by extension, the fortunes of an entire community. MLS can never match that. Wrexham puts wind in our sails in the pro/rel fight here.
  3. Yeah, I view those things as kind of tacky. Villa should stay above that fray and keep the mystique of the club somewhat veiled.
  4. Being investigated for match fixing in their game with Reading and could face a significant points reduction.
  5. I'm of two minds on it. Didn't know it was fewer games, that could sway me. Feels weird to thumb our noses at a European tournament too. It could be a good way to get our bench players playing time., especially in early rounds.
  6. Great signing if we can get him for short money.
  7. Yikes, Brighton has 3 games in hand on us
  8. I love it when these clubs like Spurs and Chelsea get into reactive mode, because whatever they do will likely backfire.

Just got these and I love them. I have a Tarsal coalition - Wikipedia and lower disc pain, and these are helping ease my discomfort. I'm able to put two different types of insoles in them and they were already very cushioned, so it's like I'm bouncing on air. One of the insoles helps my arch and the mid cut of the shoe gives my ankle good support. And it's a New England company, woot!
  10. Betancourt regretting not joining Villa..
  11. It seems as if we've lost a lot of them within the last year.
  12. Most of them wouldn't have given it much thought until recently. But they've been programmed now to believe cross dressing/drag is a deviant threat to Judeo-Christian values or whatever. Feed the GOP base with fear while you pick their pocket and bank on their vote. Same as it ever was.
  13. Hopefully the home crowd will buoy them. I think the comedown from the Newcastle high and subsequent media buzz effected them yesterday and might still on Tuesday. A buoyant crowd will be really important.
  14. He was on late night shows and did at least one tour here as Dame Edna. A hard character to miss!
  15. I reckon there are some Wrexham supporters, especially older ones, who might feel a bit queasy about their sudden transformation and Hollywood profile. What do they stand to lose here? I'm guessing many of the little things that give meaning to a community club are at risk. But on the other hand, they were close to rock bottom as a club before the takeover. Now they're back in the Football League, a new stand is being built, new pitch, club staff has security, it's a economic boon to the city, etc. It's hard to argue with success, and it's not like they've been taken over by some oil state. I'd think at east 85% of Wrexham supporters are A-OK with the new owners and all the rest of it.
  16. Truly terrible. It's like they found some old angry pub patron at the last minute to fill in for the real commentator.
  17. Watching the HBO doc about the Danish submarine killer of the journalist Kim Wall. Well made film. Disturbing and sad.
  18. How very sad. One of the smartest, quickest, funniest people. I never paid any attention to him when he toured regularly and never saw him live, sadly. Big regret. Big loss!
