When this country was flooded with Italians, Germans, Portuguese, Greeks, Swedes and Polish, is was incumbent upon them to assimilate and learn the language. And they did, and they thrived. There was no P.C. capitulation to make everything easy for them. Now we have a huge sector of people who don't speak a lick of English, and increasingly have no need to, and subsequently, they have no connection at all to the larger culture. Recipe for failure....

Took someone to a Blackburn game, I ended up sat next to Jimmy Rimmer and spent the whole time with my back to my guest talking tactics with my new best mate Jimmy. Also did a sort of corporate for the famous 5-1. Luckily it was an internal thing with a few Director's. Having not heard me swear once in ten years they were clearly impressed when I broke the record for f words in 90 minutes. I once sat in the Budweiser corporate box seats. Cushioned seats right over the first base line, with a room stocked full of snacks, a fridge stocked to the top with free beer, and a private toilet...we made the most of it 8) It was a 1PM start, and by 1AM, I had drank 24 beers and 2 shots of vodka!

I remember as a little kid in the 70's, going to Fenway Park. It had to have been 85% male. Cigar chomping, beer guzzling, cursing blue collar men. Now it's 50-50, no smoking allowed, sushi and martinis, etc....not blaming the ladies, mind you, just saying times change, and things do too. I know plenty of true blue female sports fans, but a lot of women who claim to be big supporters or whatever usually just say that because it's a quick and easy connection to make with a guy. It doesn't take long to know they are full of it Fenway has changed so much now that for a lot of "fans" who buy tickets, the game is secondary to all the other "lifestyle" trappings that are part of the experience now. It's a place to be seen for people, and maybe they'll see a celebrity or two, and text their friends and leave early even if it's a close game... Give me a real fan that loves the game, I don't care the gender. I just hate the phonies.

From what I saw, it was piss poor. Hoofing it and crossing your fingers. At one point we had a free kick when just hoofing it into the box would actually make strategic sense, but whoever took the kick, made a short pass that turned into nothing. That summed it up for me.
