Well, well...that was easily one of the greatest WS games ever played. Texas one strike away from winning it all in consecutive innings...up by 2 runs in both of them....and St. Louis pulls it out.... Incredible game, one for the ages!
  2. O'Neill the favorite for the job....would love it if we drew them at home in the Cup....
  3. They've written some memorable songs, some solid pop rock tunes....but even when they first broke on the scene, it all seemed a bit pretentious. Even their attempts at sounding Down-to-Earth seem contrived. They are a corporate monstrosity now, and I don't have any time for them at all...
  4. I don't think RVP is better than Wayne Rooney. Great striker, but Rooney's all around game is far superior.
  5. What a disgrace. Fake wood panelling....
  6. He looks cocky enough to think that he can skillfully drive drunk.... Happy days....
  7. Nah, he let us down Agreed. Villa treated him like a prince from the very first, and when things got just a little bit uncomfortable, he left. Loyalty shown, but not reciprocated, just like Downing. I can't help but like Milner, but it bothers me that players can just up and leave whenever they want. If Barry, Milner, Downing and Young all had the guts to stick it out with Villa, they'd be heroes forever, and we'd be challenging for silverware.
  8. I think Ferguson is trying to ease him back after his injury...
  9. Racism occurs for a reason, and a lot of it is down to the plain fact that these people do deserve it and have it coming. There is no smoke without fire. They just don't care about lives. Humans, dogs or other animals, it doesn't matter. Then again they don't care about much else, including and especially hygene. Lacing milk with melanine, faking just about everything including medicine and food products resulting in people being poisoned to death. Many have no courtesy, are crude and boorish. There is a litany of stuff as to why they are generally disliked. Every country definitely has its own irksome ilk but China definitely has a way higher proportion than the norm, as well as being far more irksome than the norm. (in your opinion)
  10. Because he is a top class midfielder, the best Aston Villa player of his generation and, along with his present team mate Milner, they are probably the second and third best Villa players of the Premier League years. He's not a top class midfielder, Essien, Xabi Alonso, De Rossi, Schweinsteiger, Barry? No, he's just a good solid CM. Of course, he doesn't have a foreign name, so he can't be any good I think the general point is that Barry's best days are behind him, he's slow as ****, and he is surrounded by truly world class players... a group that he doesn't have a swipe card to get into.
  11. Yep. In that respect Man City found the perfect replacement for Stephen Ireland You have to admire Ireland's style, though. 24" pink rims on his Range Rover? Class.
  12. Because he is a top class midfielder, the best Aston Villa player of his generation and, along with his present team mate Milner, they are probably the second and third best Villa players of the Premier League years. His Villa days have nothing to do with this season with Manchester City. I'm not surprised City wanted Barry when they came for him, but I am surprised that 3 years later, in this team full of Galacticos, he still starts for them.

    World Population

Being from New England, one of the first areas settled by Europeans, and one of the more densely populated areas in the US to this day, it always struck me as very strange that about half the state of Maine (the easternmost state in the US) is total wilderness. When there was massive westward expansion in the 1800's, and cities began to boom at the turn of the century, and urban overcrowding became an issue, northern Maine remained as it was, untouched. And it still is. There are cougars and black bears and eagles and bobcats up there....I'm rambling here, still need my second cup of coffee.....
  14. Just watched the Manchester derby....Unbelievable. A City win wouldn't have surprised me, but 6-1 certainly does. True, they had a man advantage, but United are known for actually being able to play BETTER down a man...City just have too much quality, too much depth, even for United. United's midfield looked totally outclassed, and the defending was brutal. They miss Vidic something terrible. Ferdinand looks past it. But how good is David Silva? SCARY. I'm not sure how Gareth Barry gets a starting spot in that team, but credit Mancini for getting it all right. Looks like it's all City's to lose now. They're too good.

    World Population

As George Carlin said, long after humanity is gone, the earth will brush off the last remnants of our civilizations like a "surface nuisance"..... The Earth will swallow up every last bit of bullshit we left in a landfill and continue on with things. Eventually there will be no evidence at all that we even existed. I kind of like that idea.
  16. How tempting would it be for a linesman whose regular job is a postman to accept an envelope containing 2 years worth of his wages?
  17. The midfield still isn't good enough. N'Zogbia is shit. Bent will only get his goals from the penalty spot at this rate. Horror decision by the linesman, but nonetheless, this is still a team that has a massive hole in it's midfield, and a mediocre back four. But this is the beginning of austerity measures at Villa, even though we PAID to hire AM , the obvious near term path now is trimming the fat, staying within our means, and staying afloat. We have a manager who is just happy to have a job, and players who have just enough quality to keep us up. I'm not even angry, to be honest. None of it is shocking anymore.
  18. I wonder if it was a little boy, would he have been saved sooner? Aren't boys cherished in China over girls?
  19. My Grand Uncle died today. He was 99 years old. He lived a long and interesting life, but he was tired and welcomed his death. I'll still miss him though. He was a true gentleman of the old school.
