  1. Fat men on bicycles make me laugh
  2. Seriously? Yes, it's the cynic in me.
  3. Mate, it's not that people are not happy to get communication but that there's a deep suspicion amongst more than a few that what is delivered is not getting to the heart of the matter. Yep, you do get the sense that when Lerner does talk, it's just enough to quiet the clamor at the gates...notice the timing as well-just prior to a very hard stretch of matches.
  4. I think he should have spoken via the OS first, to be honest. That way, he goes directly to the supporters, with no "middle man", and certainly not one that charges you money to access the article. Either way though, the criticism of what forum he used first is small beans in the whole scope of things.
  5. It's not as easy as that though, players make mistakes, managers make mistakes. If he listened to the fans we would have a new manager and set of players everyweek! You say is not about the money but it clearly is, if he was buying players all the time you wouldn't be moaning. I was not around when o'neill was here but were you hating him then saying he was shit owner then? Or quite happy because o'neill was doing well and spending money? LOL, you "weren't around" when O'Neill was manager, but yet you seem to think you're some kind of compass of sensibility and arbiter of what constitutes a good Aston Villa supporter. You call people on this forum "idiots" and "bastards" for simply expressing frustration with the club, as people sometimes do on this forum. But your trademark seems to be the inability to understand people's opinions beyond the one dimensional viewpoint that they just want the club to spend gobs of cash, when it is clearly not as simple as that. The "idiots" and "bastards" you refer to have been pouring their heart and soul and time and money into the club for years, and for some of us, decades. If they come on this forum unhappy with how they see their club being run, then it is their right to express themselves without some Johnny-Come-Lately telling them how awful a supporter they are.
  6. He said "We have to correct the perception we’ve had more players going than coming". I don't see correcting a perception as pointing to signings. I can't say that I like that wishy-washy language- "We have to correct the perception we've had more players going than coming"... How about saying "We intend to do a better job of holding on to our best players"... It's just that kind of gobbledygook that we hear too much from him, (when he does speak) in my opinion.
  7. Agreed. And you get the sense that they're still flying by the seat of their pants to this day....
  8. Yep, I don't expect anything Earth-shaking...
  9. I just did a quick browse of my head. My hair is getting depressingly thinner up there... :?
  10. Both shows need to be shown the door immediately, in my opinion. Both were once uproariously funny, now just weak, and pathetic.
  11. You've sussed out the situation brilliantly. What all unhappy (and spoilt know-it-all) Villa supporters want is a obscenely rich Arab Sheik to make us into another Man City, and you, by holding a different opinion, are a superior type of supporter. Well done.
  12. While a noble notion in theory, the means that Villa live within are absurdly rich from the perspective of most clubs in the Football League....Villa have maintained their status as top division regulars partly if not primarily because they could afford to buy the players that could assure that status. All you have to do is look at the Bent signing. As soon as things looked a bit dodgy, Lerner went and shattered the club transfer record in order to secure our position in the Premiership. Villa are owned by a foreign billionaire who has revamped the training facilities, the Holte Hotel, the ground itself, spent boatloads of money on players, etc. So we are living within our means. For most clubs, our means are astronomical. Not quite Man City territory, but worlds away from Huddersfield or Oldham or Coventry City....
  13. So it's ok if the billionaire that spends money on par with Man City and Chelsea is from the Midlands? That is what makes it acceptable?
  14. I still think he sells within the next two years....
  15. At what point does a billionaire's money become too obscene? We were all delighted when Big Money Lerner took over and started spending wildly. There were probably dozens of other clubs who were envious and thought it unfair and detrimental to the game. But it seemed like our sweepstakes winner. So if some Arabs who can buy and sell Lerner a hundred times over come knocking, who is gonna say they think it's wrong? If it's wrong now, it was wrong when Lerner took over too.
  16. The man has clearly lost his marbles at this point Click
  17. People who tell you how great life is. Well, they're just liars
  18. I lowered my rent by $200 in return for doing yard work and minor painting and repair jobs.
  19. The spirit-sapping woman at work who spends all her free time telling everyone how miserable she is.
  20. "Ja Funmi" -King Sunny Ade "Rock the Casbah" -The Clash "Dance a Fe Cork"- Michigan and Smiley "Berimbau"- Celia Cruz and Willie Colon "Fractales, Part 1"- Apparat
  21. I personally think that our brush with relegation scared the pants off Lerner, and he will want to protect his investment now, first by balancing the books and putting things in sound fiscal order, and then selling the club. I expect a new owner within two years.
  22. Or another step towards all the clubs being owned by foreign multi-billionaires. That's probably the easiest way to achieve parity, at this point...
  23. $$$$$ The fix was in Too much money already wrapped up in Manny-Mayweather Are they going to risk Manny against Mayweather after that showing though? They can keep on claiming Mayweather is ducking him and have Manny retire without facing him. The question is what's more important to Manny, the money or the legacy, because once Mayweather destroys him the legacy is gone. A $75 million guaranteed payday? The fight is on, trust me.
