Oh, I don't know. There's American arrogance, English arrogance, Israeli arrogance, Saudi arrogance, Zimbabwean arrogance, Russian arrogance... Cultural stereotyping FTL. I'm not sure I was stereotyping, just observing. There is nothing quite like American arrogance as well. They are all singular and unique. It is a cross-cultural phenomenon. I just happened to mention the French style because I've had conversations with two French guys within the last week, and they were both very similar in attitude. And there is nothing quite like the French brand of arrogance. It shouldn't piss me off. But it did.

the xmas day hangover is a drawback but xmas eve is the best night out of the year IMO...miles better than new years NYE is for amateurs and assholes....X-Mas Eve is a great night to get a buzz on and revel in holiday cheer. Of coarse, I'm on the wagon right now, but I've got good memories!

Really? I like superhero films (though I also believe that many disappoint almost unerringly in some way), but even taking that into account I can't see what would make it an embarassment to film. It's silly as hell but it's basically a 'boys own' adventure put on screen, and accepting that it was always going to be a silly romp (which it pretty much had to be) I struggled to really find too many flaws with it. Iron Man was superb. Loved Batman Begins. In general though, super hero movies are lacking, IMO.

Mmmmm beef. Mutton is good as well. Duck I'm not a big fan of. The way I see it - the purpose of life for humanity is to create society, technology, culture, all the abstract things we consider as uniquely human. Similarly, the purpose of life for animals is IMV to provide nutritious sustenance for humans, rather than just, you know, existing for the sake of existence. The only caveat I think is that the killing has to be quick and painless. IMO, it's wrong for humans to have to undergo excessive pain and suffering even as we pursue our ambitions and try to fulfill our purposes. The same applies for food animals. Having said that, I've been considering vegetarianism of late due to the adverse impact excessive demand for meat has on the environment. These days I do try to limit my consumption of meat but sometimes thick juicy steaks just look.......irresistible Whenever I get the odd craving for red meat, it's never steak that I want, but a nice juicy cheeseburger. I miss them. :cry:
