  1. Oceanfront cottage in Down East Maine French chateaux in Provence A modest spread in the Virgin Islands with a sea view That'll do for now...
  2. No such thing unfortunately fella. Those who have an easy life are the ones who try not to let things get to them and don't care or worry about things. You make your life hard by giving a shit. Its not a bad thing, it just does you no favours :winkold: You're right about that. I find the more I actually CARE about how I perform at work, the higher I set the bar for myself in the eyes of my employers, and if I don't keep going above and beyond, they think I'm suddenly losing focus....and by taking on extra responsibility, I also get my immediate supervisors thinking I'm out to take their job. It's a lot easier to just say "**** it", and go through the motions. Do what you need to do, put in just the required amount of effort, punch out and go home. Great way to obtain a promotion :? ...or save your job...

Eww...you've gone and put a horrible image in my head now
  6. Back in the early 90's, my girlfriend and I had an extra ticket to see Sade, so I invited a buddy of mine who was strictly a Iron Maiden/Black Sabbath kind of guy...he scoffed at the idea of Sade, but came along anyway. They put on a great show and he walked out of the venue a big fan...it may have been the dress she had on, but i was proud of him for expanding his horizons, lol
  7. Certainly in a "Over 50" list
  8. this she has according to one web site moved 50m records , be it on her own or as part of a group but Bicks gripe on how the statement was worded would be true Eurythmics are rumoured to be 75 million plus records I wasn't aware that she went solo after the second album whilst keeping the same band members... For all intents and purposes, she's considered a solo act, always has....whereas Annie Lennox made her name alongside Dave Whatshisname in a group..... I pulled that best selling British female title from the Guardian, with the assumption that they've done their homework...they (and I) could be wrong, of course. Nonetheless, she seems to go relatively unheralded considering her record sales.

Ugh. Gutted by this result. Anything that puts a smile on John Terry's face is a personal disaster for me....
  10. She is the highest selling British female solo artist of all time, yet she seems to fly under the radar, and not really get the press and adulation that you think would come with that mantle.... I've been in love with her since the 80's, love her music, and I love her persona...she couldn't care less for celebrity, and all that bullshit, and I respect that. She's got that cool subtle style, and still looks great for 53, or whatever... What are your opinions on Britain"s best selling female musician?
  11. Surprised Fulham didn't give us more trouble, surprised WE nicked it at the end, not them, surprised to get 3 points at home. Best case scenario would be to secure safety at the latest date possible by playing ugly football, and then continuing to play ugly losing football once we know we're not going down. That way, McGash and Lerner will still feel pressure from supporters all the way to the last game.
  12. I took me about 20 years to realize that I did in fact, really like Born in the USA. You could argue that the production value on a lot of his songs before that album was a bit over the top (think Born to Run, Hungry Heart, etc.) But if you listen to "My Hometown" and "I'm on Fire", they are both sparsely produced tunes that don't scream "The 80's"...in my opinion, anyway.
  13. Sorry, I just made that up. But the singer did die today, apparently, so R.I.P.

Foreign governments will be very shy about undertaking a military operation to kill a marauding African psychopath. Seems there is a Kony-type guy in just about every Sub-Saharan country. Taking him out sets a lofty precedent.
  15. haha, clearly the Diet Coke is making a difference
  16. I stopped drinking coke 15 years ago, when my teeth started to rot Nasty stuff

They're already in power. Every republican senator and congressman from the Bible Belt has to answer in some degree to the zealots, if they aren't already a zealot themselves. The Evangelicals have been flexing their muscles in U.S. politics for the last 30 years.
  18. Sad, isn't it? Just in my adult lifetime (I'm 40), I've seen great old school dive bars in Boston and surrounding suburbs shut down or transform into soulless, Yuppie martini bars. It's a real shame. You can hardly find a good bar with a pool table and dartboard anymore. Everything seems to cater to the upper class academics, which Boston has in spades.

I'd like to see American "activists" focus their attention on American children, 50% of whom, according to the latest government census numbers, live at or below the poverty line. Child hunger, homelessness, ignorance, exploitation, violence, drug use and mental health issues are an epidemic in the U.S. But American do-gooders as usual want to save the rest of the world first...whether or not they are even wanted there.
  20. You can never be too ambitious. The problem was they took ambition down a dark alley and raped it with ineptitude.
