It's possible that Lambert was about to contact Vlaar's agent, but read about their complaining to the press and decided to let them dangle for a while.
I get the feeling Lambert is not one to be trifled with.
How? club have hardly made a mention of this signing. most of talk coming from Feyenoord end
Yep, Feyenoord are the ones making the fuss and talking to the press. If anything Feyenoord is the club that's looking bad right now.
Is it though? Why should we jump just because they've asked us too?
We should conduct our business in our own time. Feyenoord having a Champions League match isn't our problem whatsoever. If we decide to go in for Vlaar in 2 weeks then Feyenoord have the option to reject the bid, and Vlaar has the option of rejecting us. If they decide to do that then so be it.
It will be if Collins and Dunne are out centre half combo at West Ham.
I am relaxed though, Lambert clearly wants to shake things up at centre half so I'd be amazed if we didn't sign anyone else.
It seems quite clear that PL wants to keep Dunne around, anyway.
I remember "The Prestige" and "The Illusionist" both came out around the same time, and they both were "19th century magic movies"...of the two, I thought The Illusionist was much better. The "twist" at the end of the Prestige was just insulting.
Did it all go wrong though? He's 32 years old, he's played for 3 of the biggest clubs in the world, scored some incredible, memorable goals, represented England in a positive light, and will have an enduring legacy of a world class player...and he made a few shekels along the way. I'd say he's had a very good career, despite his setbacks.
Yeah, it seems like Vlaar overplayed his hand, and is now scrambling to save face.
It's possible that there was a simple lack of clarity during the talks?
It's all gone a bit messy with his agent and Koeman sullying the Villa name in the press.
We can't be having situations like this play out in the media.
There's a reason most of us had never heard of the player before, so the only reason I'd be upset about not signing him is if Lerner decided to withhold the money to do the deal.
Feyenoord look a bit silly moaning and groaning in the papers over this. All of a sudden we're a club that lacks "manners"? Seems like the KEA deal was done without any conflict. I think the delay boils down to the America tour and possibly the impending sale of Collins to Sunderland as a trigger to seal the Vlaar deal. Maybe they expected the deal to be wrapped up as quickly as the KEA deal...this is too bad, because it was looking like we were forging a very good working relationship with Feyenoord.
