Yep, I read that Guardian(?) piece, and I really felt awful for the guy. Based on what he said, there's also somewhat of an anti-intellectualism way of thinking in the game. He was ridiculed for reading broadsheets and books on bus rides, etc. He wasn't a lad. So he was a target. **** sad, really.
I wouldn't. Gabby is just more of an all around threat than Zog. He gives defenders fits, and can supply a decent cross, as well as score goals (albeit in bunches). Zog is like a slower version of Ashley Young on one of Ashley Young's worst days.
There is really no justification for freezing out a fit Bent, who has (on the whole) conducted himself pretty well under the circumstances. He's been humiliated by Lambert with the stripping of the captaincy and subsequent benching that has never been explained to supporters.
Benteke saved Lambert tonight; had we drawn or lost, I'm convinced people would start calling for Lambert's sacking. He needs to sort this out quick. Weimann's performance tonight should have won Bent a start next match. We'll see.
Unconvincing win, we'll get pummeled by better sides playing like that. Benteke saved Lambert from having to explain his Bent omission, which is turning into a complete farce, given how few goals we've scored this season.
That said, it was 3 vital points at home against our relegation rivals. Huge win.
Crap first half. They look like two of the three worst teams in the league. Bent would've buried that chance that Weimann made a mess of....Lambert needs to explain himself if we don't win this.
Tampa have extended Longoria for $100m, I was certain he'd walk or force a trade. Just another sign that the NY-Boston stranglehold on the division is a thing of the past. With a resurgent Baltimore, a dangerous Tampa, and a suddenly flush Toronto, the division is more competitive then ever.
Me and my old man went to see Skyfall yesterday, great movie, I'm liking the way they're getting more and more away from the over the top ridiculousness and camp of previous Bond flicks. Then we came home and watched Moneyball, which was actually a good movie. I had my doubts cuz I don't think Brad Pitt is a very good actor, and I wasn't sure how the book could translate into a dramatic movie. But it worked.
