Who do you guys consider the best commentators? I think Martin Tyler is head and shoulders above the rest. Ian Darke is quite good too.
Peter Drury does my friggin head in
Guzan doesn't lack self confidence, that's for sure. I think he'll make a few horror mistakes from time to time, but I think we are looking at the Villa keeper for years to come...
Bent isn't the problem, the midfield and it's lack of service is. In theory, a Bent-Benteke partnership should be deadly, as long as they get decent service, but we don't have a single midfield player who can be relied on to execute a consistently good cross or slotted ball.
It's painful how totally inept our midfield is.
We dumped Crawford, Beckett and Gonzalez on L.A., and Dice-K's contract expired, so that's a shitload of money saved, but we still have the donkey that is John Lackey. Who knows, expectations are so low at this point, a 10-10 record with a 4.00 ERA would be acceptable.
On the bright side, it's only three years. They like his OBP and his dual position status. We'll see. They actually just signed Shane Victorino for the same exact deal (3/$39). This is a good trend. I think they've finally learned their lesson doling out the 7 and 8 year deals.
Seattle has probably the nicest stadium, but Washington has the best, because the seats are really close to the field, especially the end zones. Great atmosphere there.
At least we know for certain that there are several sides that are as bad or worse than Aston Villa right now. I think we'll maintain our current position in the table, and hopefully improve on it by February.
