You might be right, PB. As soon as the high earners are shifted, he might sell. How else to you explain not strengthening in this transfer window when we're in free fall. Scary prospect though. The devil you don't know, etc.

This is what baffles me too. You'd think that that gigantic carrot that's dangling there would be enough motivation for him to spend a little more than he'd like to on xfer fees/wages.

Didn't he just snub Arsenal to stay at West Ham? Considering Lambert's come out and said there's not going to be any signings, it would seem that this link is dubious, at best.

Just got home to read the result. When I left for work it was 1-1. That we allowed them to score in the 89th minute to win it is trademark Villa. TBH, I'm glad we're out of the Cup, we were never going to win it anyway, so might as well focus on trying to survive in the league. Massive game against Toon. Another loss at home against another struggling side will put another nail in the coffin.

Why in God's name was he not starting the match against Bradford? His goal was a confident one, and his quality was needed for the full 90 minutes. He's also got the makings of a true leader. I think Vlaar is too laid back for the captaincy.
