  1. Haha, the thing about that Kanye West spoof is that it's entirely believable!
  2. Look at that beautiful second kit Taylor's got on. Now we wear neon lime green
  3. I agree, Spoony, an England side going into a major tournament with very few expectations of success and less pressure than maybe ever before might just bode well for them. But whatever team Hodgson puts out there has very little chance of beating the likes of even Belgium. Shame Aaron Ramsey is Welsh. Bale too. Maybe a British team would be the way to go
  4. Yeah, Spain-Netherlands right out the gate is massive. It'll crank up the drama nice and early.
  5. The Ticos are not as strong as they used to be. England will beat them. Even this England. Not sure if serious
  6. To be fair, the Metropolitans are on the way up from recent years down in the dumps. Good time to start following them. And glad to see another VTer show interest in the other Beautiful Game, welcome!
  7. Done deal. Unbelievable. You have my deepest condolences.
  8. It will be winter down there, so games in Rio southward won't be very hot. It's the northern and interior games that'll be tough on some.
  9. was that the Uruguay world cup winner from 1950? Yep. Played with a cane back then, too. Fearsome little bugger.
  10. Colombia must be salivating at their fixtures. They'll be looking for redemption, and the pressure on them will be much less intense than in '94.
  11. A win against Ghana, draw against Portugal, and a loss against Germany is what I predict for us. Should be enough to clinch a match against some team that will destroy us
  12. I felt bad for that old geezer picking from the wrong bucket, then dropping a ball on the floor, lol
  13. Come to think of it, USA thrashed Portugal 3-1 in the WC when they still had their "Golden Era" team with Figo, etc. A win and two draws could see us through...
  14. Well that sucked. USA and England got really, really tough groups. Meanwhile, Brazil and Argentina can play their women's teams and qualify for the second round. So much for parity...
  15. All I mean is that he has scant moral authority that renders his words hollow. Obama sends drones to bomb weddings. His platitudes about Mandela being an inspiration are laughable, given what we know about Obama's perpetuation of the war machine, Guantanamo Bay, press intimidation, civilian spying and suspension of due process in cases he deems appropriate...
  16. When I was 16, a girl asked me if I was on the pill. She was ahead of her time.
  17. Obama, nobody cares what you have to say about Nelson Mandela
  18. Nah, express how you really feel, if you want to.
  19. Very sad news. Not shocking, given his health issues. But his loss will be staggering nonetheless. An icon to millions, a true legend. I remember seeing him when he came to Boston not long after he was released from prison. Incredible excitement, and a real sense that young people, from universities around the world, were instrumental in exposing and isolating the SA regime and forcing them to release him. Not many men would be able to walk out of a cage after 25 odd years and shake the hand of his jailer. He lived the very lesson the world's holy books espouse. R.I.P.
  20. What a boring matchup tonight...the league should be more flexible with the schedule so that better games can be shown on Sun-Mon-Thurs nights.
  21. had a similar argument in the Piss you off thread last week. didnt get much support You should see the looks I get from people when I tell them I thought Saving Private Ryan was a crap movie It's like they want me deported
  22. Could have been a Villa legend, instead he's a never-was has-been bench warmer with a crap reputation and aging legs. No thanks.
