  1. Two billionaires heading a group of millionaires....They'd better make room for us at the top of the table.
  2. It's the headline article in both the Guardian and the Telegraph. They both released it at the same time last night. They must have something concrete even if they can't print it. It's not like it's the Sun. I was sceptical about this whole thing until last night - but there has to be something happening now. Reckon it's 50/50 how this could turn out - anyone know what the success rate is with American owners? Gilette and Hicks were a disaster, Sunderland seem to be going down due to management similar to Lerner's, under Ellis Short. Fulham's guy seems a bit trigger happy with managers but he's invited heavily in January taken a gamble and it could pay off. The Glazers have no money of their own.... Would take a John Henry every day of the week. Interestingly Henry is similar to Lerner when he first came here - keeps out of the spotlight but has spent a lot of money. I think if we'd had had a good manager instead of O'Neill from the beginning (or at least one that could build for the future) things would be a lot different now. In some respects it was Martin O'Neill who ruined the club
  3. I wonder if there is anything to read into the Texas trip...McNair?
  4. Sad news. Probably the most famous Latin American writer of all time. And brilliant, too. "One Hundred Years of Solitude" is a masterwork.
  5. The guy shaking his sausage looks a bit like Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20
  6. They're going to want to hire someone with Premier League experience, someone young and willing to accept the limitations put on him, and someone who presumably has an affinity for Aston Villa. Gareth Southgate, take a bow...
  7. They will either crumble under the weight of the pressure (and the fact that they don't seem to scare anyone anymore), or rise to the occasion, buoyed by their home support.
  8. A Brazil-Argentina final would be amazing, although I'm not sure if Brazil will get that far (or if the two sides could actually meet in the final at all based on their groups)
  9. The old lady seems the more likely assassin. She's ruthless. Then again it could be the newcomers to King's Landing, the swarthy people from far away
  10. I wish they kept Joffrey around a bit longer. And that his death was more sadistic. But good riddance anyway.
  11. It's almost as long a flight from Boston to Texas than it is to England. So I'm not going. If they were playing in Boston-NY-Philly-D.C. then I'd go. But the next time I see Villa play, I really want to go back to VP for a game that counts.
  12. Sin City 2 should be a good one
  13. If his two trusted lieutenants have been removed for what appears to be personal conduct infractions, Lamberk must ultimately be held accountable. And that means he needs to go too. Piss poor results and a diabolical coaching staff he either couldn't control, or tacitly supported. It's all gone tits up, Lamberk has been exposed, and it's obvious that these guys are more suited for a circus than a football club. We need some professionals, and quick.
  14. The asking price would plummet...so Lerner wouldn't sell until we'd be back up. Which is not guaranteed to happen right away. We could be just steps away from a dark wilderness right now.
  15. Hehe, I enjoyed it, despite some laughably bad Boston accent attempts (see above photo for Exhibit A) Nicholson was miscast, and not just because his terrible accent was so terrible, but because he was "Playing Jack" again. I'd have preferred to see someone like Ed Harris in that role.
  16. Watched "Desolation of Smaug" with my nephew on Sunday. Better than the first Hobbit movie. It's been so long since I read the book, I don't really care if they've re-written it, basically. I just enjoyed another visit to Middle Earth.
  17. Hehe, great thread tag
  18. Let's hope the players respond well to the sanctions on the coaches. Newly found inspiration is our only hope to get anything from this match, Soton are a much better side.
  19. This "suspension" of his coaches seems like a desperate attempt to make a change to motivate the players. But it probably should have happened months ago. Culverhouse is clearly a divisive figure, and not worthy of his position at this great club. Lambert is culpable in this, and the only reason he hasn't been sacked is because it would have made Faukner and Lerner look even worse. The club is a TOTAL shambles right now. It's all up to the players at this point. Lambert can only get in the way.
  20. I'm not sure how to express my gratitude for all your kind words. Other to say thank you. It's good to be home, and it's good to be back on VT, always a good place to be when needing a bit of good cheer. Life keeps moving at pace...
  21. Well, this morning my dad died. I was tending to him all night giving him morphine. It was pretty brutal watching him fighting for air. It was a relief when he exhaled his last breath. Chemotherapy worked great for almost 6 months. But once it stopped working, the disease came back with a vengeance. He weighed about 115 pounds at the end, and was winded just from shifting position on his chair. But he died at home surrounded by family, which is what he wanted. He was still making people laugh as recently as Monday. He was my best friend and a great guy. Every now and then he would ask me how Aston Villa were doing, not because he had any real interest, but because he knew what it meant to me. I'm going to miss my main man. Coming on hereand telling you guys this is important for me because VT is a big part of my day to day life, and I feel privileged to be a part of such an incredible group. I'll see you on here later. Mike
  22. He is piloting Flight 370 and is gonna put that thing into a nose dive, Hulk Hogan
  23. I went to high school with a girl called Peaches. She was one of those hot in a trashy way chicks. Dated the gridiron hero, of course...
