Unlikely, IMO. I think he likes his California lifestyle and the low pressure job he's currently in. Even if the US don't make it out of the group stage, his job is still secure, in my opinion.

Baseball is played in more countries than cricket. Basketball and ice hockey are played in more countries than rugby. At the end of the day, football is the world's sport, everything else is a niche sport in comparison. Sorry for going so far OT Cricket is a bigger sport worldwide than baseball is.

Basketball was invented in Massachusetts. Ice Hockey is American insofar as the top professional league for the sport has always had a majority of US clubs (Boston, NY, Detroit, Chicago).

The 70's were a LONG time ago...so much has changed since then, it makes your head spin. The infrastructure and demand for football in the US is set in stone at this point. NASL was poorly conceived and poorly executed. It was packaged as a gimmick and always had a short shelf life.

Considering that 20 years ago there wasn't even a top flight league in the US, it's most likely just a matter of when. MLS is already making the NBA and NHL look nervously over their shoulders. But NFL and MLB will still reign supreme for a good long while still. It will be another 30 years before the USA is good enough to win the World Cup and MLS considered an elite league.
