  1. Carry on, then. Speaking of books though, I did laugh when Joffrey sliced his gift book to pieces at his wedding party. What a little (dead) prick...
  2. He's holding out for the Arsenal job...
  3. I think sacking him now is pretty shameful, to be honest. They have no shot at the CL, so out of simple courtesy and respect they should have let him see out the season. This smacks of punishment, which achieves nothing. He should have been sacked in January. Now they just look vindictive. And Ferguson's record of horrible manager suggestions is intact.
  4. Guys, please use the GoT Books thread to talk about what happens in the books. Otherwise, hide your text using the spoiler tab thingy. Cheers.
  5. Reading the tea leaves, Lerner appears to have one foot out the door. I suspect once we are safe, more details will leak out, and fairly quickly at that.
  6. Seems TBAR are trying to hook eyeballs with all their hype. Pinch of salt please, chef.
  7. To be fair, in the book, it is a bit less rapey. A bit. Edit: Remembering back, it isn't seen from Cersei's POV, but Jaime's. The point still stands though, my reading of it was that it was consensual, just a bit twisted. It's one of the things that the show misses without the internal monologues, it's hard to really tell what's happening at times. No book talk!!!
  8. Regarding the Texas Rangers- they let go of Kinsler and Cruz, both of whom are playing extremely wel, and yhey brought in a fat and underperforming Prince Fielder. Not really that shrewd, really. But baseball is a totally different beast...I just hope they have cash and dont use the club as some vanity thing.
  9. Apologies to Texas-Mike, but there's something about old Texas oil men that really puts me off. Maybe it's because I'm from New England, but I just cringe whenever I hear those wrinkled old cowboys talk, especially about (soccer)....The Hicks-Gillette fiasco didn't help either. If it's them, I just hope they hire a proper football man like Steve Stride to do the grunt work, while they keep the cash till open and stay away from microphones Amazed nobody else had pointed this out (that I had noticed) so far! I did!
  10. Seems like this is what we've been doing already...
  11. I think one of the most exciting things about the takeover is the potential of keeping benteke long term and getting quality around him. Or selling him and not worrying about it
  12. Hire David Unsworth's wife to be Hospitality Coordinator
  13. Sheez, you could buy Villa with just that contract extension! We're just small change. Pretty nice contract for a guy that plays once every 5 games
  14. You are right about more important issues, of course, but this is just for a bit of fun tied in with the whole takeover speculation. I'm loving this, frankly!
  15. I think we should leave out "Prepared" until we prove we actually are... It's a great motto, but hardly fitting for quite some time now.
  16. If you have a particular design in mind, let's see it!
  17. With excitement building over this potential takeover, and people already posting their ideas for new crests in other threads, I thought we might have a thread dedicated to people's ideas for a crest redesign. A poll to gauge how people feel about a redesign too perhaps?
  18. I have no evidence but generally don't new owners tend to keep the current guy in post at least until Christmas..see how he gets on and then sack him if they need to? This is looking like the deal will be done at the sound of the final whistle on the last match day. I think the new owners will want a total transformation from the stagnation of the last few years, and Lambert has been a part of that. With an entire summer to set things up, I really think they'll let Lambert go and bring in a higher profile manager.
  19. Yep, I'm sure that's what they'd intend to do. A stronger Asian presence would be an smart start. I'd even try to make inroads into India, even though it's pretty much a cricket-only country. But I think with the world shrinking the way it is, the interest in the Premier League knows no borders. I don't see any other club tapping the Indian market. Even Blackburn don't seem to do much on that front. But the current club crest will most likely be scrapped, and that day can't come soon enough.
  20. No chance. An American consortium comprised of even half interested investors with little knowledge of English football will be very well versed on Moyes' fall from grace. The profile of English football in the US is higher than ever, with matches shown on regular old non cable NBC, highlights of big matches shown regularly on ESPN's Sportscenter, etc. They'll want to pick a winner, not a loser, which is what Moyes is, at this point.
  21. Let's just hope the new owner doesn't rename us The Birmingham Lions
