  1. Right, so is there a press conference at 2:30PM GMT today?
  2. Please, not Steinbrenner and the Yankees, God help us
  3. I think the worst case scenario is that this "sale talk" is just a smokescreen to appease pissed off supporters, and that he'll continue to use it as a convenient cop out. "It's not my fault nobody wants to buy us..." And meanwhile Lambert and Faulkner stay on and do as they're told. God I hope I'm so wrong.
  4. The kid that bagged my groceries today who put two loaves of bread in the bottom of the bag, and proceeded to stack canned beans and a jar of mustard on top. Well done, you donkey.
  5. There is a usefulness to having Lambert stay on for the time being. Hopefully Lerner gives him a decent little kitty to buy one or two decent little players to signal to perspective buyers that the club is not in a complete state of inertia.
  6. The timing is right in that the Premier League was all over American television this year in a way it never had been before, ratings were through the roof, and because the league is so compelling, the allure in getting involved with owning a club must be at an all time high right now. The TV money coupled with the league's rapidly expanding international profile surely makes it a very tempting proposition for a well heeled sports enthusiast.
  7. It's almost impossible for a US sports team owner to lose money. Once you're in, you're on the gravy train, especially in the NFL (a model of pure, unbridled socialism). Hicks/Gillette and the Glazers are examples of greedy parasites who do not respect the institutions they took over and only see dollar signs. Fenway Sports Group is an example of positive American ownership, because they respect the culture and have a big enough bankroll to make Liverpool contenders. Basically Lerner but with much more money. We'd want owners in that vein, and I trust Lerner to get it right in that regard.
  8. Is that Darryl Hall singing the ITV tune? Awful...
  9. And it's Birmingham Red Bulls Birmingham Red Bulls FC Are by far the greatest team the world has ever seen
  10. Where did the Red Bull link come from, anyway?
  11. Red Bull's thing is to put their name on everything, including the club. RedBull Aston Villa FC is what they'd insist on. Thankfully Randy won't sell to them for this very reason.
  12. I sense a presence I haven't felt since....
  13. Yes, someone like Vincent Tan, a go-it-alone type
  14. That's where the other 100,000 Villa fans come in...
  15. But somebody from Saudi Arabia does, if you place any credence in Saudi Villa fans on Twitter
  16. Idiotic move is this is true. Now this will hang over the team and be a burden on them, when he could have simply ignored it. Another French implosion is in the works
  17. New Zealand is pretty random, no human rights abuses. The Maori living in squalid tenements might disagree with you ; ) A joint NZ-Oz tournament would be great, IMO
