  1. I see people criticising England fans / pundits for suddenly being very harsh on Southgate, and while stuff like throwing pints is obviously completely wrong, this kind of backlash is what you get when you gaslight people for four years, insisting that the turgid football they're watching is actually perfectly acceptable and that the team is getting better. And then they turn up six years into your tenure looking worse than ever despite having the best squad. The mass awakening isn't pretty, but it's what you get when you suppress valid, well-intentioned criticism for years and fail to make any meaningful improvements.

I'm so bored of claret body and blue sleeves every year. It was Randy that came in and said it should be that as standard and we've deviated from it once in 20 years.

And the kit that did break from that was one of our best this century

  3. He doesn't seem like an Emery player, and we have to go all in on Emery. £42m is good money, we need to sell some players at some point and there's simply no one else in the squad we could get that money for who would be a smaller overall loss.

  4. I think he'll be one of the 7 to not make the final squad, but also not the worst thing in the world if he gets more time to rest and recover over the summer after a gruelling season

🔁 it’s Martinez desire to represent Argentina in the copa America + Olympics this summer

🔁 if Martinez were to go he would miss all of #avfc pre season + potentially the first premier league game

🔁 the copa america is from June 10th - July 10th + the Olympics starts on the 26th July

  6. It's terribly exciting to think how well we could do next season if we manage to avoid any more season-long injuries to key players, or indeed any lengthy absences at all really.

How does it look for that fifth CL spot next season too? It's going to be a competitive league, if we're able to progress far in a cup and even get into the knockout rounds of the CL, it would be nice to have slightly less pressure in the league.
