Surely this is a joke, he’d be a woeful signing if it happens.

Hasn’t a clue how to defend or pass the ball. Was awful for Liverpool last season.

FFS Lambert this is even more bizarre than Senderos

I imagine this would be your stock response to any signing we made tbfh.

TBFH I’m sure you’re capable of imagining anything!

And maybe your ability to dream can stretch to this lad becoming a good defender and passer of the ball once he has a few coaching sessions with Paul Lambert.

Unfortunately back in reality he is an over hyped player on a downward trajectory.

Lamberts form in signing second-rate left backs continues unabated. So far it’s Bennett, Luna, Bertrand and now this guy.

Let's play a game: You've got £2m, who do you buy instead?

You beat me to it! Who exactly would you buy for £1.75M then Villastine? Makes me laugh when they conveniently don't answer. I don't care what he has done for any other clubs, if he plays well in a Villa shirt, who cares? He can't be that bad if Liverpool took him on loan.

  2.

    Why

Why? I have heard something is afoot. I guess we will have to wait and see Paul.

Noooo!! No! No! No! This is banned, you cannot come on and say stuff like that and then not say what you have heard! Share it with the rest of your fellow Villa fans!

Don't fall for it mate. This is the reaction people who 'claim' to have information are looking for. Probably just getting the info from TBAR about this Arison bloke. If it happens in a couple of weeks, they think they are some fantastic ITK, if it doesn't happen, they say it's taking longer than expected or whatever. Nobody knows anything. The only person who had genuine info was 'HairyHands'. I seem to remember another member stating last year that Lambert was going to be backed well in the transfer market 'and then some...'. What a load of rubbish that was too, yet these people continue to say it was 'Paul's' decision to do things, as if they know them. All a bit embarrassing.

  3.

    Confirmed on Sky Sports! :)

    What is ?

That we are interested in hiring keane......or its done ?

Sorry, someone shouted upstairs to me he had agreed to come to Villa. Think they got their wires crossed.

  4. Bloody hell so much debate over our potential number two just because he is famous. Whoever cared about a number two before?!?

    I blame Lerner.

Well, being as though it was Culverhouse and Karsa that took the training sessions and some claiming they actually picked the team too, i would say it's pretty important. That's why people care.

  5. Yep for a season and then went downhill fast with both teams you mention. Hardly an endorsement of managerial ability.

He will be coming as a no.2, not manager. Rene Muleensteen was a crap manager, but an excellent assistant.

I would welcome the appointment. The real last tough nut i remember at the Villa was Ron Saunders, and look what happened then.

Listen to what he said at the 3:00 mark.

The more telling part for me is at 3:27

Pat Murphy asks :  "Can i just get this right then.As you understand from Randy Lerner, there's nothing imminent, there's no concrete bidder?"

Lambert :  "It's only been up for sale a week, since the statement came out. It;s not as if you are selling a car or a house, you are selling something that's incredible really, and so i don't know how quick these things happen. Yeah, as i say it's my job   to  make this club the best it can be while im here. You need to spend a hell of a lot of money to stand still. But that's the division you are in. It's better being in this division than the one below."

So he didn't reply : "There is no concrete bidder" or "There is definately nothing imminent". He also starts to go off topic about spending and being in the premiership.

  7. People, people, people, please quit with this "he's lost the fans nonsense."

    No he hasn't.

I bought my season ticket yesterday & so have many other Villa fans too to date.

One good win & things change. Believe me!

The whole Club just need to survive this season & then we can look to seriously assess where we are currently & where we really intend to be longer term & what needs to be done to seriously help Lambo to arrest the decline & achieve his & our ambitions. You can tell by his recent comments that he is pig sick of where our massive Club is currently languishing right now & he knows that this is totally unacceptable. ( Though through no fault of his own IMO I hasten to add.)

Serious lessons have surely been learn't by all those associated with the Club this season & most provocatively of all, it is the fan's, more than anyone, who are currently destabilising Lambert's sincere efforts to arrest the Clubs decline, because of their atrocious & negative attitudes, failure to grasp the true reality of how challenging the Villa Manager's job really is & their failure to recognise that he has been seriously handicapped, especially by injuries to key personnel, but most annoyingly of all it is their puerile action of spitting their dummies out at the worst possible time when the Club desperately need the 12th man to stand up & be counted & show what they are worth.

FFS! Stop moaning! Get behind the team, get behind the Manager & get behind the club 100% & prove that you too are also worthy to be recognised by the Club as being worthy of wearing the claret & blue scarf instead of constantly motivating the opposition by constantly dragging the Club down by creating a totally negative & detrimental atmosphere & slagging off the Manager & the team who are trying their very best to secure our future in the division.

    To sum up:

Directors direct. Managers Manage, Players play & Supporters Support.( allegedly)

So, hopefully now my message is clear?

    Support, support, support, support.

Don't moan about it - Just do it.

    Troll...

Firstly, can I just say recently I've been questioning if Lambert was the right man at this time, where as all along I've kept faith in him that he would turn it around. I still wonder what he could do with a budget. However, it's not so much about results, I just wonder if he can ever produce the kind of football that will see us get where we need to be. I'm only 25 & there is people on here who'll have been watching us far longer than me, but definitely since Gregory (probably before that too but I was only a kid) left we've seemed to struggle against the smaller teams, not only in the league, but even in the cups.

I kind of feel sorry for Lambert, to be honest anyone who would want the Villa job the last few years would have had to have been crazy, and fair play to him for risking his reputation at Norwich for this. Over the last two season Paul Lambert has managed 72 Premier League games, he's named 11 starting players 72 times, which is 792 player starts. Of these 792, 255 were players who came through the Villa academy, that's 32%.

People are saying he's worst than McLeish, people need to look what he had to work with.

McLeish's average starting XI: Given. Hutton, Collins, Dunne, Warnock. Gabby, Petrov Herd NZogbia. Bent Heskey. (2011/12) avg. cost per player about £4m-£5m

Lambert's average starting XI: Guzan. Lowton, Vlaar, Baker, Clark. Bannan, Westwod, Delph. Gabby, Benteke, Weimann. (2012/13) avg. cost per player about £1.5m-£2m

Lambert's average starting XI: Guzan. Bacuna, Vlaar, Baker, Clark. El Ahmadi, Westwod, Delph. Gabby, Benteke, Weimann. (2013/14) avg. cost per player about £1.5m-£2m

I think above anything else Lambert deserves our support for these last 4 games.

Two points occur to me from this.

First, Lambert is probably a bit better than McLeish but that isn't saying a lot, is it?

Secondly, the team needs our support - they are the ones who have to get the 1 or 2 points needed to ensure we stay up. Whether we "support" the current manager or not will be irrelevant.

    So, cheer for the team.

I find this, just like Faulkners outburst the other week, really patronising to Villa fans. The fans have have supported the team over the last 4 years through thick and thin, and have been mostly served up a shower of shit from the team. You talk as if the supporters havent really bothered to turn up this year and we need them now? They have and always will be there, its upto the team to do their side of the bargain for a change.

Yes, i agree, Lambert has had to deal with financial constraints, but what has let him down in my opinion is some of his own decisions. Albrighton starts a few weeks ago, and everyone was saying how well he played and must stay in the team. So what does he do? Yes,he drops him. Then he will wait until 80 minutes to put on a sub when it is far too late. Also some of his tactics have been dire. I really want Lambert to succeed, but alot of his downfall is down to himself.

Weren't fans saying Cardiff, Palace and West Ham were 'Must Win' games? Now Norwich is the 'Must Win' game. Can no-one see a pattern here?

Yes, as I have stated before on this forum today, the Lambertophiles always say the next game is a 'must win game' and when we don't win it they move on to the next game. It saves them having to admit that they were wrong.

I get your point but mathematically its very wrong so I don't get your point. Lets say that we need to win 4 more games this season. Now we don't get more points until the last 4 league games, then those 4 are must win games and none before that are.

What im saying is, the fans which say this a 'must win' game, when we lose, they say it was just bad luck or 'we got a point, at least we didnt lose', don't you think we should really be beating these lowly teams? What will be the excuse if we lose to Norwich? I completely agree with what you are saying mate, but so many people who consistently back Lambert find excuses, and keep saying the next match is a 'must win'

I think the term is often overused by a lot of people. Personally I don't describe many games as "must win", but I think Norwich is under the circumstances.

Fair enough mate. We all have differing opinions, which is what makes this a great forum :)

  13. Lerner isn't putting up with anything if Lambert is achieving what has been asked of him, is he?

    Exactly mate.

Lerner :  "Keep us in the league again Paul if you can"

Lambert :  " I will do my best Randy"

    End of the season

Lerner :  "Great work Paul, same again next year, not really bothere where we finish, aslong as we get the TV money"

Lambert :  "No problem boss, any chance of some extra funds?"

    Lerner :  "No Paul"

    Lambet :  "Ok, bye"

  14. Yes, Lerner wants to see us relegated and lose tens of millions...

But this is the problem you see. Lerner is happy to see us finish 17th every year and pick up the TV money. No ambition. No interest anymore really.

Sacking managers who clearly were not up to the task. Managers like Lambert for instance.

Not sure how the second point has any relevance to this discussion. If Lerner had any balls Lambert would have been given the silver bullet after the Crystal Palace game.

That's just going to extremes. Ellis was too trigger happy, not to mention he seemed to fall out with almost every manager we had. Hardly a good quality.

It is. People moan about Lerner now because of how poor we've been doing (fair enough) but we've had even worse under Ellis, yet for some reason people always rush to praise him whenever things go wrong. As I said before, things being bad now under Lerner doesn't suddenly erase all the bad Ellis did.

No-one is praising Ellis, they are simply stating that Ellis would not have put up with this for so long, which he wouldn't have.

What happens after the 'Must Win' game against Norwich and we lose? People just come up with excuse after excuse.

  16. Can someone please respond as to what Lambert has done since being here to make you so supportive of him?

Im prepared to give Lambert a bit more time, but it has been noticed that all of the 'believers' haven't answered this question, yet demand other people answer their argument.

  17.

I'm judging by what i discuss with fellow supporters and hear at the matches. You're judging it the opposite based on what you read on here. Is either more scientific ?

I rarely heard as many grumbles at a match under McLeish than i do now. Lambert is the luckiest Villa manager in history, if he'd followed anyone else but McLeish he'd have had the sack and been driven out of the city long ago

And how many do you talk to?

I wouldn't say either is particularly scientific, but you can get a better access to a broader range of people on here. Most posts also aren't made in the heat of the match, where people's emotions can get the better of them.

And for the record I haven't detected that much animosity towards Lambert at matches. Sure there's groaning, but that happens at pretty much every ground most of the time anyway.

    Poll please!! :)

  18.

Not this shit again Morpheus. You are about the only one who thinks that Lambert's signings record has been poor. Or maybe the only one who can't take the whole picture into consideration. To state that this ratio of successful signings has been poor as some kind of fact is ridiculous and a bit pathetic.

No he is not - just because you don't agree with him, no need to make things up. There are quite a few people who will look at Paul Lambert's record in teh transfer market and question if they have been any good. That and many things are not anything to praise him about.

On the subject of offering him another extended contract then it confirms that Lerner et al are certainly no real good judges of what is needed at AVFC. Lambert should have been told in no uncertain terms that he needs to improve in so many ways before he gets a better deal from the club not seemingly rewarded for what is a season and half of poor performances and records being broken for the wrong reasons

As long as Randy gets the TV money and we are looking safe, it wont happen. Sad but true

Abusing you lol. What, because you don't like people answering you back and you have been found out to actually know nothing?

I am an optimistic person and genuinely thought the club would pull some deals off today, I was wrong.  Moreover, Lambert indicated yesterday that the club were working on a few deals so this added to my optimism. This was added to what I was told by another source recently, so I felt reasonably confident that we would make a few signings. I am disappointed with the likely outcome, probably more so than you are.

But it annoys me when people come out of the woodwork with a “told you so” attitude and begin to label and abuse others, it is not acceptable. I do not mind people replying and questioning my information, but to gloat and abuse is totally wrong. I am an attention seeker just as much as you are one.  I was innocently sharing information through PMs and mimicking Richard’s cryptic messages as humour, I will not do this again in the future as it clearly upsets a section of posters on the forum. It is not worth it.

There is literally no point in doing it. For your sakes and everyone elses. If youre privy to info then good for you. Either don't tell people what it is, or do tell people what it is. The cryptic messaging just winds people up and you will get the response you've had today. I have no doubt that if a few deals did come off today you'd probably be on here with "I told you so" style messages, so don't be so shocked when they happen the other way around.

Totally agree. Now if he had said we are signing a defender that rhymes with Iron Kurtstand a few days before the actual signing i might have believed :)

  20.

If you want me to stop preaching, PM me. What was it you and Richard said 'All ye of little faith'? Mwwwhaaaa

You never preach when you shine the Gent's shoes? Strange. Hell, keep preaching baby, you mean nothing to me anyway. If you want to continue abusing and labeling me and Richard for sharing information, go for it champ... chump.

You didnt share anything?! Just cryptic hints all window. Suck it up!!

Why are so upset about it?

Im not upset. Are you? You're calling people names?!

Daveburnside, they feel abit silly now. They give these riddles and 'info' pretending they are some sort of 'ITK' or 'part of the club', but when people question them, they try and defend themselves with answers like that. In the summer, just remember to click 'Ignore' on their posts, and just wait for official news on the site of a signing lol.
